Hi,

My name is Armymason. Try plugging in an external monitor again and on the laptop look on the keyboard for the key to switch between monitors. On my board its the F4 key while holding the FN key down. If that doesn't work it is most likely the video card has failed and its not replaceable because the card is attached to the board. I would have said the monitor is bad but you should still be able to use an external monitor.

Thanks,
ArmyMason

My screen went blank??

Have you tried to connect a VGA cable from your laptop to a different monitor?
That would prove weather or not it was the monitor at fault or the graphics card.
Most TFT TV screens have a VGA connection, you would just need to find a D-Sub - D-Sub VGA cable to test with, if it wourks on the TV your monitor is faulty, if not your laptop GFX card will be faulty, either way you will need to claim on the warranty.

Good luck

( Dell xps m1530 laptop ) Monitor blank, powers up but screen won't come on.

It ISN'T the LCD screen. Since you diagnosed with an external VGA monitor, you now know the problem is the laptop.

(When you connect an external VGA monitor to a laptop, you are bypassing the Video Cable, and LCD screen. You are connected directly to the laptop )

The basic Windows files aren't being found. The boot files. This may mean a bad Harddrive.

Do you have the Restoration CD Disk? Laptop on insert it into the optical drive tray, close the tray.
When asked choose - Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)

If a checkdisk is done, you have bad sectors on the harddrive.
There IS a special procedure in replacing a harddrive.

Please.. tell me how to remove password toshiba portege R100 i forget

I'm assuming that this laptop is using Windows, and that the password is to an account on Windows.
At the login screen, press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice, and another login screen asking for a username and password should appear. In this box, put "Administrator" for the password, and either insert absolutely nothing, or "Administrator" for the password. I don't remember which works correctly, but one of the two will.

Baterry went off. i have charged it but the screen wont come on though i hear the fan. i have to remove the battrey to put it off. have tried an external monitor and it says computer on sleep mode. press...

Perhaps a result of the auto display off. press any key to activate the screen again.

If using the LCD screen, make sure the priority is not set on an external monitor. To do this, press the Fn function key combination to set the display priority.

if you use an external monitor:
1. Check whether the monitor is switched on

2. Check if the power cable is properly connected

3. Check if the cable menguhungkan external monitor and the notebook is connected correctly.

4. Try to set the constrast and brightness on the external monitor

My screen went black

If your Notebook's screen went blank you can do the following:--

1) Try booting with an external monitor. Connect the external monitor to the VGA port given to the Notebook.
Result:1 --- If the external monitor is working fine, then the problem is with LCD. If your Notebook is under warranty you can get it repaired free of cost.
If your Notebook is out of warranty you can go to HP.com and purchase the LCD screen (If you are in USA please go to this link :--- http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/)

Result 2:--- After connecting the external monitor even the display is not there, then it is the problem with the motherboard. If your Notebook is under warranty then you can avail free repair.
If your Notebook is out of warranty you can go to HP.com and purchase the Motherboard (If you are in USA please go to this link :--- http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/)

Blank (dark) notebook screen after hooking up digital ext monitor

I notice a difference in the setup of the two monitors, have you installed the correct driver for the new screen?

Try F8 on startup to get into safe mode, this should allow you to use the default VGA screen, and to reset the correct monitor drivers.
