Question about Delphi Roady XT XM Radio Receiver

XM radio overheats

We have an XM Radio - Delphi roady XT that we use for "musak" at our office. It plays through ceiling speakers and to people who call us and are put on hold. It's worked fine for a couple years. The other day, it quit working. When I examined the radio, I found that it was very hot. Both the radio and the a/c power supply were hot. The radio was hot enough that the LCD display was discolored. I let it cool down for a while and when I plugged it back in, it worked for a short while - until it heated up again. I have both a car type base and the home type base and swapping out that didn't make a difference. Which component do you suppose is the problem, the radio or the power supply?

This sounds like the problem I posted about the a/c adapter. The radio doesn't get enough power because the scr in the a/c adapter is failing.

SOURCE: Delphi Roady xt, cassette adapter problem

I was thinking how can I trick the cassette into keeping the cassette in there because every time I put it in, it just came right back out
This is what I did
Go and find a real cassette and cut out a little piece of the cassette tape and set that aside
Every cassette is different so find a way to attach tape from a real cassette to the cassette part of the cassette adapter
You need to attach the tape so it is flat over the head of the cassette just like in a real cassette, which is the part where the music is transferred, once u get it over the head the cassette deck will think it is a real cassette and it will stay in the deck, the tape doesn't even need to be perfectly flat like in a real cassette tape, it can be all messed up and it will still work but flatter is probably better, so you are just tricking the deck into believing that it is a real cassette, it worked for me and hopefully it will work for you, tell me how it works out

My radio just recently goes up to 119 and several of the channels i listen too come up as updating....and won't play.

Give XM a call, since they merged the channel lineup has changed. Have them push a new activation signal to the unit, which should unlock the rest of the channels. However, the roady XT isn't exactly known for its reliability, so the receiver itself might be dead.

Roady 2 signal goes in and out....

We've been having the same problem with our Roady XT unit at the office. Sometimes I think it's possessed because it goes in and out, changes to the mute mode, and sometimes turns itself off. Just got another Roady XT unit today. It played fine, then went into the mute mode. Called XM and they told me to reset unit to factory default. It's fine at the moment.
