Question about HP Pavilion ze4610 Notebook

1 Answer

HP ze4610 Only starts up with the original 256mb RAM in the slot that it was in originally. If I place the it in the other slot or try to install a different card of the same specs it won't start. The laptop will repeatedly kick on and turn off until I remove the battery. Please help.

Have you double checked you are using the correct type of RAM module?

Try installing the original RAM and see if the computer boots up.
If it does then the other RAM modules maybe incompatible or faulty.
Try using additional or new of the same make and speed as your original RAM.

Installedmemory now pavillion ze4610 just beeps and shuts down.

Make sure your battery is removed, unplug, reseat memory mods, make sure they are inserted fully. I assumed the 512MB are used? New? There is no reason , that I can come up with, they should not work? I have upgraded many memory mods without incident.

I have a p4s533-mx motherboard with 1.7ghz intel processor, my system had 1gig pc3200 and 256mb pc400 at 400mhz ddr1 ram, now my system suddenly wont pick up the 1gig ram card, only beeps when powered up...

The RAM modules may not be compatible with each other.
Try using the same make RAM modules.
Try Installing the 1Gb RAM module without the 256Mb RAM module.

How do i install a memory ram on my computer acer 5050

I don't know your model laptop, but most laptops have one or two memory slots on the bottom of the laptop behind a panel. Remove the panel to reveal the RAM slot/s.
When installing RAM, say 1Gb when there is two 256Mb RAM modules, then you need to replace the existing RAM with two 512Mb RAM modules. Make sure the new RAM is the same speed as the original RAM or faster RAM.

I have a Sony Vaio FX802 with 384 MB ram, split 1 x 256MB and 1 x 128MB across 2 banks. Last week I noticed that I was running on 256MB only so I re-seated the 128MB module and that seemed ok for a time,...

when adding new memory always take all memory out, reinsert the new 256mb stick into the first memory socket dimm1 normally, boot the laptop up, if the laptop boots then fine the memory module is ok, shut down and insert the original 256mb into the second slot, dimm2 then boot the laptop it should now boot normally, if not there maybe problems with the memory slot itself, give it blow to get rid of any dust and try again, if this dosent work post back.

Sharp Actius AV18 does not recognize added 512MB PC2700 RAM. The machine still only sees 256MB. Is there something else I need to do?

I assume the laptop had originally 256Mb RAM and you put 512Mb RAM in a the spare memory slot and you expected to see 768Mb of memory, is this correct? Try removing the 256Mb memory module and insert the 512Mb memory module and see if the laptop boots up with 512Mb of RAM. If it doesn't boot up then the RAM is either incompatible or faulty. Try using RAM modules from the same manufacturer.

Added memory but one memory card (Original) not recognised

OK, according to Crucial.com your RAM does need to be installed in matched pairs.

Here is a link for your computer information:

If you get another 512MB module and install both pair, it should work well.

IBM ThinkPad T40 2GB Max RAM

The T40 has two ram slots, you can put a 1g chip in each totaling 2g. If the chip will remove, then it is changeable. Vista needs a minimum of 256 to run, so, when you change BOTH chips to equal 2g it will probably read 1.744g, or it may read the full 2g. If it only reads 1g, then the second slot under keyboard may have malfunctioned. It could also be that the 256 chip is bad and your really only running 512 now. With all that said, in order to achieve 2g, you will need to put a 1g chip in each slot.
