Question about Ruud UAMB Air Conditioner
It starts to come on, but only blows cool air, and after only about a minute, it quits blowing anything and stops. It was fine last evening, but the house was 60 degrees this morning at wake-up time. I cut the thermostat off, then back on, but nothing. After the third try, it came on but would cut back off almost immediately. I tried this for several times, then it finally started blowing air, but cool and only for a minute or so before it cut itself off altogether. I just had it serviced, and all the jets were blowing straight ahead, which tells me it would not be a cracked heat exchanger, right? What does it sound like to you guys? Roll out switch, thermostat, ???
Is it spark ignition or a glow coil? Sounds like the ignitor is busted. If it was a roll out switch the fan would stay on trying to cool off the switch.

Could be a faulty thermostat, (referring to the furnace\heater. As far as the A.C., you must have a dual thermostat with a switch for A.C. and Heating. Is the thermostat digital or mercury bulb? As for the A.C. it sounds like it is going off on high discharge pressure. Is the cooling fan running that cools the condenser? It must be spinning freely or it may be starting and because it is partially seized, it will cut off with a high current draw. Anyways, the condenser must be clear of any debris, no shrubs around it. The compressor could be bad and trying to start but goes off on overload because it isn't starting. It's start capacitor could be bad and not giving it that extra boost on start up which is what a start capacitor does. Good luck.
