Question about ASUS N50Vn Notebook

1 Answer

The built in camera doesn't work. It displays black screen.

I use ASUS N50Vn PC Notebook since 3 months. The system always started with SmartLogon service, it's very comfortable and useful way to log on to the user account. The camera window has become black several days ago without any apparent reason. I didn't install any program or device. I tried to turn camera off, uninstall driver, I booted system several times but I couldn't make the camera back to work. So, before I'll send the laptop to the service, I have to be convinced it's hardware problem not the software one. I should be very grateful for your help in solving my problem.
Best regards
Jacek

Hey Jacek,

I think its a hardware issue too, If you haven't installed anything I don't see why this would be. Is their any configuration software for the camera that allows you to adjust the color? I would check that out first, you could also try and using the system restore function. Go back to the day you bought the system and see if that resolves the issue. If that doesn't work it has to be hardware related.

Goodluck,

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

This is also in respect to your previous problem stated;

http://www.fixya.com/support/t12161144-screen_cover_off

It is also in regards to an Asus N50Vn series of Netbook PC.

A) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

If memory serves;

B) There are 6 synthetic rubber screw covers.
4 across the top, 2 on the bottom in the corners.

I use a computer pick, and gently pry them off. (Lift up on one side) They have a type of rubber cement on them, and if careful, can be reused.
Place them on a clean surface.
(Yes. They like to stick to the tool, and your fingers)

Underneath the 6 screw covers are 6 Philips head screws.
Remove them.

(Note*
Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
Do Not mix them up)

The thin plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the LCD Bezel.
Resembles a picture frame.
Remove it.

The outside edges of the Bezel have plastic tabs. These mate with plastic latches in the inside edges, of the Display Cover.

This video will help with the Display Bezel removal,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7vSFvHphxM

Primer:
An LCD screen does not produce light by itself. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight (Present technology) can be a CCFL, or a series of LED's.
From what I gather the Asus N50VN series uses LED's.

I don't have the exact model number to see if a screen Inverter is offered, or it is included in the purchase of the replacement LCD screen.

(To me, would indicate the screen Inverter is an integral part of the LCD screen assembly, for certain N50VN models )

Asus smartlogon can be installed on asus vx6 win7 but after reboot sais can only be run on an asus-computer!?! ;(

Hi,

Are you using the Win 7 operating system which came with the computer when you bought it? If not, you need to use the OEM operating system, intall the utility and the driver to get it work. It is an ASUS utility and only works with OEM which came from ASUS.

Hope this helps.

There is a physical wireless slide switch at the right of the indication light. It seems that you have to switch it on.

Hello!  I just posted I had a problem but now I've solved it. User LOSNAD posted the simple solution here.

I think we accidentally turned off the wireless switch. The switch is in front of the mousepad, to the left of the mic and headphone jack. OK!
