Engine trouble The drive belt broke on the car and when I took it to get serviced they said there was coolant mixed with the oil. Do I need another engine?
Head gaskets and cyclinder heads means extensive labor charges, which will probably be a little more than dropping a used engine in my V8 LS. Best advice? You drove with a flashing check engine light and then with it on solid. Flashing check engine light means STOP DRIVING and get it fixed. So this sounds like an abused and neglected car to me. Get the trouble codes read that are stored in the computer. Check for good fuel pressure and spark. Fix one or both.
White smoke is an indication of a bad head gasket and engine coolant getting into a cylinder.
Check:
- dipstick for coolant mixed with oil
- Radiator for coolant level.
If coolant on oil or coolant level low, time for some time consuming and costly repairs.
what year, and do you service car.?
are you mixing AF fluid types. i bet yes. and is big time bad.
jiffyboobs
put oil there?
you can do the exhaust gas heck device a radiator cap filler
or the leak down test.
id do a full flush and fill and drive a week.
not the toxic mix is gone.
do not mix AF brands.
If no external leak and the transmission fluid colour looks white, the problem belongs to the automatic gearbox oil cooler. The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant causing this milkshake. It's a small radiator core type oil / water heat exchanger. It is cracked inside and transmission oil is mixed with engine coolant. Because the transmission oil pressure is greater than engine coolant pressure, the transmission fluid level drops. See also the coolant colour inside recovery coolant reservoir inder bonnet! It could be like this:
The automatic gearbox oil cooler type oil / water heat exchanger (oil cooler):
In the picture above the transmission oil pan was removed for oil filter replacement.

could becoming from ur oil cooler lines that go into rad,,,could have internal crack in rad,,,pull dip stick out & ck to see if motor oil is low or a grayish color,,if ok ck trans fluid to see if is low,,have to find out what kind of oil residua is in the over flow jug
What you have Discribed is 1 of 2 VERY SERIOUS Problems or 1 You hav BLOWN a HEAD Gasket -or- 2 A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD This OIL In COOLANT Must be Determined FOR SURE To Be Able to CONCLUDE one of the other, The Overheating Problem it a ByProduct of the BOTH
A blown head gasket doesn't necessarily mean there is water in the oil. Check for bubbles coming into the coolant tank. Take car for a short drive to build up coolant pressure and you should be able to see where it is leaking from a bit easier. It is possibly coming from a heater pipe or core plug.
