SF (not 5F) = Temperature Sensor or Thermistor
HS = High Limit Sensor
Heaters Set Temperature out of Sync with actual Water Temperature.
Heaters Maximum Water Temperature has been Exceeded.
A few reasons this occurs...
Low water flow thru heater, check :
Dirty Filter
Opened By Pass Valves
Plugged pump impeller
Dirty/Full baskets at skimmer or pump
Anything that may reduce water flow
Sensor could actually be doing its job, in a different aspect, Thermostat failure, and water is overheating in spa or pool?
But anyway, your heaters fault code you asked about does not necessarily mean the sensor failed, but is only informing of a problem.
ensure proper supply voltage to the heater....either 12 or 240 vac. display screen should get 24 vac.....if screen is supplied 24 vac then replace the display screen board.....if not getting 24 vac problem is occuring before display screen
The code is SF. This is a teemperature sensor failure. Check the wiring on the electroniics bord and confirm its not damaged and that it is securly plugged in. If all is good than the temperature sensor will need placing.m either a gas fitter or swimming pool reepair center will help with this is your not comfortable replacing it
the Code 5F is a Temperature
sensor failure. The temperature sensor may be defective or the controller board may be defective. If you have an ohm meter the best way to diagnose if the sensor is faulty is to contact Hayward technical support and they can help you diagnose it. If the sensor is ok then the controller board is defective.
CE= Communication Error between Control Module
and Display Interface Assembly
1. Disconnect and then reconnect power to heater.
2. Check for faulty wiring or connection.
Inspect Display Interface Wiring. Ensure Display Interface Plug is securely attached to Control Module. .
3. Control Module and/or Display Interface Assembly
are defective.Replace Control Module and/or Display Interface Assembly.

leave power off for about 15 minutes for a reset if still on check control panel heater relay may be stuck or faulty same goes for stat -if both are good most likely mother board is problem
