Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer
I have a Kodak AIO 5500 and a computer running Vista Ultimate. Replaced the printhead after about a month. Software installs, sees the printer, installs the drivers and then indicates that it cannot communicate with the printer. Error window indicates to check the USB cable. Replaced the cable, tried different ports, spent over an hour with Kodak support with same results. Uninstalled software, used Kodak clear utility to perform a clean uninstall.Used ccleaner to look for registry entries left behind. Deleted printer from printer window while unplugged and plugged it in to let windows find it and reinstall it. Same thing happens,It indicates that the drivers are installed and the device is ready to use, then a red x apppears over the printer icon in the task bar and it errors saying that there is a communication problem. Plugged an HP 1320 printer in using the old and the new cable, both times installation was handled by windows and the printer worked with no errors. Reinstalled .net 2.0 at the insistance of Kodak with same results. Program logs in Vista indate that the Kodak services and the Kodakdiscover crashed and closed. Kodak diagnostics report indicate error code 3503, 3501, 3502. Kodak could not tell me what the error codes mean. And ideas?
Error codes that you mentioned are not related to your issue you will get those are for front access door open and main paper tray empty.........the number of times you open the front access door and when ever the main paper tray is empty you will get that error.......you mentioned that HP printer worked......i would recommend to use a clear utility for HP and remove all the drivers and software for HP first as that might be conflicting with Kodak and make sure the version of the software for the home center(which includes drivers) is latest which is 3.4.......you can check for the version of the software by opening the home center and click on the question mark on the top right and then click on i which is on the right in the new pane that comes up and you will be able to see the software version in the right hand bottom corner on the small window that comes up.......if you have the latest version of the software then make sure you have the latest chipset drivers on your computer......for that you can contact your system manufacturer.......i suppose you have Dell...........if that also does not help then just tell me what all options you have under the Universal Serial Bus Controller.........also make sure if you have printer icon in the printers and faxes in case of XP and under printers in case its Vista.......if not then try and add a printer icon........if you already have a printer icon then try and right click on it and set it as default printer and then check if it works............let me know whats the result and was this helpful or not..............
