Question about ViewSonic N1800TV 18 in. LCD Television
If I look at the monitor from a certain angle, I can see that the menu still pops up. So I think the screen is fine. The screen is just VERY dark. Is changing the backlight something I can do on my own without spending a fortune on taking it to the dealer?
You most likely have a bad backlight inverter, there is a small chance it could be a power supply issue but I doubt it.
Replacing the inverter should be straight forward and easy but working with high voltage electronics can be very dangerous, I must tell you that it should be repaired be a trained professional but if you decide to do it yourself I will walk you through it.
You can buy the inverter at www.shopjimmy.com. When the part comes in get back with me and we can proceed in a chat from there.
In the meantime please rate me a FixYa.
