If you need to reformat your pc make sure you have a backup of your data first. that is very important. then get your vista C that should have come with your laptop and insert in you drive and reboot the laptop. it should boot from the CD then it will guide you through the format and re-installation process.

Restart means to just reboot windows thus switch off and the system will automatically boot again. if you need to reboot windows just go to the start round button in windows Vista and click once then at the lower end you will have an arrow like button pointing outwards at the lower right hand of the start and click once. there you find retsart and just click on it.

The PC will reboot immediately after that.

Im trying to reboot an emachines E620 to factory mode, but dont know how to do it.

You can click on "Start", then "All Programs", then click on "eMachines" and look for the "eMachine Recovery Management".

You will be able to select creating a Restore CD, Backup your files or just restore your computer back to when it was manufactured.

After selcting "Restore", follow the prompts and the computer will reboot and reinstall you Vista operating system.

Remember to back up your files you have created first, as they will not be saved as well as any programs you may have installed yourself.

Good Luck

I dont know my password

If your using windows xp, reboot the computer and press f8 as it boots, enter safe mode, select run from the start menu and type in "control userpasswords2". From there you can change the password. If you are using windows 7 or vista, enter safe mode with f8 after turning the computer on, open the command prompt (cmd/cmd.exe) and type in "control userpasswords2".

I have windows Vista. I get a black screen when I boot up my computer. The only thing the shows up is the mouse pointer. I tried to recover from last known good configuration. I get the same thing. I tried...

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

To repair your computer using Startup Repair follow these steps:
  1. Boot into Vista installation DVD
  2. Choose your language settings and click Next
  3. Click Repair your computer
  4. Choose your operating system and click Next. This should bring up System Recovery Options.
  5. Click on Startup Repair
Startup Repair should now start diagnosing your system to identify the root cause of the failure. Once it has identified the root cause, it would automatically start repairing your computer. If you are curious to know what Startup Repair did, you can click on the details link and see which tests Startup Repair ran to diagnose the problem.
After Startup Repair has finished the repairs, click Finish to reboot your computer.
Your computer should now be able to boot normally into Vista!!
Note -- If your computer cannot boot into Vista even after repairs, then go back to System Recovery Options and run System Restore.
That's it! This is how you use Startup Repair for most unbootable situations.

Dell inspiron 1525 very slow

If you are running Vista on the computer, 3 gig of memory is what is suggested. As far as a sticky space bar, call Dell and have the keyboard replaced if it’s still under warranty.
