I had to use the Toshiba Recovery Wizard a few months ago, because I had a similar problem. So, when my computer started freezing up again for no apparent reason, I again went to the F8 menu, and chose the Recovery Wizard. However, this time, it froze during the installation, during the "Do Not Interrupt" stage. It wouldn't do anything, so against my better judgement, I shut it down by taking the battery out. Now it won't let me into Windows at all. It doesn't always even get to the Windows Vista Home Premium screen, sometimes I just get the grey screen. When I do get the "Premium" screen, it tells me that my account was disabled, and I need to "contact the system administrator". The problem is, *I* am the system administrator, as this is a home-use laptop, not connected to work, etc. This is one of the models that did not come with a recovery disk. I attempted to make one the last time I did the Recovery Wizard, but it only asked me for one disk, so it's not a complete set (or so the people at Toshiba support say, and so I've read elsewhere since). I really don't even like Vista, and I don't use any of the other junk that the laptop came with. I have an old Win XP disk, and considered installing that instead, but I was told that it might not be compatible with my laptop. Does anyone know why that would be? Or, how I can get the Recovery Wizard to "come back" to my F8 menu? It's not there anymore, and I can't figure out why. I've only used it twice now, surely there is unlimited use for that.
