In the add or remove programs, click on the change button next to dell media experience. In the second step of the window there is an option to repair and it worked for me.

2 things you can try, On the bottom of the laptop there is a bar code type sticker the will say service tag, go to the dell web site scroll down to drivers and downloads when you click on that link it will give you the options to search by model or service tag. Put in the service tag number of your laptop, next screen should ask for your operating system make sure you have your current one in the box. The drivers and software that where commonly shipped with your model should show up.
Good luck

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My stupid dell is really annoying when ever I try to click or select repair your computer is didn't show up at all I tried it more than 12 times and I love my dell so much I'm not giving up!

Do you have the original repair disk and program disk if you do just pop the disk in the cd drive and reboot the computer and it should pick up the cd and start it for you. If you don't have the original system disk that came with the computer big problems.

Invalid boot file ini fix dell opti plex 270

bonvicin66,

Unfortunately, you are going to need to have a Windows Disk to run a Repair Install from the disk. If running a repair install does not resolve the boot.ini error you will need to format and reinstall Windows.
To get a Windows disk you can search the internet for a disk. If you are in the US you can try getting a disk from the link below.

How do I factory restore a dell mtc2 windows xp without the factory discs? Please help.

First you need to go to dell web sight and search your computer by your service tag #, located on the computer case somewhere! If you click how to find it will help id the tag. Once you log into your computer build it will tell you what software was originally installed and where to purchase the original disk so you can repair your system. Dell has great support!
Thanks

Blue Screen doesn't load Operating System. I beleive there is a software conflict when my daughter downloaded an application she needed for university

If you are getting 'Uncorrectable data Error or Media' for your internal hard drive then it is likely that you have a disk problem rather than a software conflict caused by anything your daughter downloaded.
If the Dell diagnostics provide no solution, then you would need to use a specialist boot CD to try to repair the disk errors. One such disk is Hiren's Boot CD which can be downloaded as a CD image file (.ISO) from http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ then would need to be burnt on to a blank CD then the laptop booted from this CD.
On the initial Hiren's boot menu, select DOS programs, then select Disk tools before selecting HDAT2 to perform the disk repair actions.
HDAT2 can take some time to complete depending on the size of your internal disk drive and the number of bad sectors or other errors encountered - the tool will attempt to repair bad sectors by reading, verifying, writing and re-reading / verifying the data.
If the disk can be recovered, then you may be lucky and the system will be able to boot but otherwise, you may still need to do some further recovery work for the operating system, in which case you may need your Windows install or recovery CD media.

Having Original discs are no longer needed for Dell's. They have a service tag number on all there pc's. You may reference that under the support section of there site (dell.com) Once here you will be offered all software needed for download.

If you still wish to get a copy of all software your only choice is to contact there support department and pay for new copy's along with shipping charges.

I hope this helps.

User password lockout

Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

You should be able to go to the Dell website
www.dell.com
and register your laptop, even though you are not the original owner. From there the site will guide you through the scanning and repair process. You may have to wipe the hard drive and start with a clean setup, so backup any of your data on another form of media.
I had to do this on a dinosaur of a laptop when I had to replace my daughter's backup system. It is not fun, however, a better choice than using it for target practice.

I hope this helps, good luck!

Original set up

I'm not sure I understand your problem.
You want to reset your computer to factory settings? So a clean install of Windows?
If yes, tell me which Operating system you are using: XP, XP Media Center Edition, Vista...
Dell didn't deliver a Windows-disk with your system, because the installation can be done from your hard drive.
Please answer my questions and I'll help you further
