These cartridges don't have anything internally to check for new ink. They simply work on a basis of counting pages and page coverage to estimate ink levels. As such it is perfectly normal for your printer to warn of low ink once the cartridge has been refilled.
A low ink warning in itself should not stop your printer from printing though. If it does it is likely that the light is actually indicating a problem recognising the cartridge after refilling. I would recommend cleaning the copper contacts on the front of the cartridge and checking for any messages on the connected PC or laptop for more information.
Replace your color cartridge and power printer on. The color cartridge is probably empty (even though there might be a little ink left in it). Many inkjet printers require the color cartridge for composite black even if you are not printing in color.
check your printer settings, make sure color only is not checked off, or if you mainly print black and white documents, you should have that option checked, you may have to go into advance printer options to do this.
Hi there Dell Printer 944 error message 1102 Please unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has. Now open the printer with the power on and the cartridges should go to the center to be replaced. Take out both Dell Series 5 ink cartridges and make sure the tape is off the cartridges and insert both back in and make sure the seat properly and latch. Close the printer and it should print an alignment page. If you still get the error message Why does my Dell ink cartridge level still show up as "low ink" after refilling them? Dell ink cartridges have a sensor that reports the ink level as low once it reaches a certain level. The sensor can not be reset. If you refill an ink cartridge that previously reported low ink, it may print fine, but the sensor will always report low ink. Buying or replacing ink cartridges with new Dell cartridges will resolve the low ink message. Dell discourages ink refills. Refilling ink may lead to print quality problems, and even eventual hardware problems. This post is in no way a validation of refilling ink cartridges. Why my printer is reporting “low ink" after using refilled/remanufactured ink cartridges? Most ink cartridges have sensors that report the ink level. The “Low Ink” is usually the last sensor (fuse) before running out of ink. Since the sensors are fuses that open when the ink level drops, they cannot be reset. If you are using refill or remanufactured ink cartridges, the best thing to do is to disable “ink alerts” on the printer’s software so you don’t keep getting “low ink” messages. To disable “Ink Alerts” on Dell inkjet printers: 1.Open the Dell printer software (All-In One Center, Tool Box, etc) 2.Go to Settings 3.Advanced 4.More Options 5.In the “Appearance Mode, window, check “Never display the Printing Status window” and “Display the low ink alert only when the cartridges are almost empty. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

That is normal, the printer "sees" the cartridges by their serial number, so when you pop in a refilled cartridge, the printer thinks you have put in old cartridges and continue to show low ink level. When you pop in a new one, with a new serial code, the ink level will reset, showing that the cartridges are full again. You can try this: 1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and
place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again. Doesn't always work, but you can try. Here are links, so you can see: http://www.misterinkjet.com/hp56reset.htm http://www.misterinkjet.com/hp57reset.htm
Keep your printer of nozzle checking. Refill Cartridge are most likely showing message "low ink", but it's actually not, i mean running good as new. Good luck!
sometimes the proper carteidge ink has a element in it that is seen by the lazer. refills do not. you have to guess. but it will work. its best to have a proper cartridge ever 3 changes. keeps things working. it will show the level on a real one.
