When i play a movie and use my itunes the sound is choppy do you know what the poblem is because i cant hear anything do i possibly need a sound card ?

If you are viewing/listening on line and it does that but not when you play a DVD or tune from a disk, you have a slow internet connection problem. If it does it when playing a Video/Tune from a disk, download a newer audio driver from your manufacturers web site after downloading the latest Windows update.
Hope that helps.

How to Copy DVDs (Video, background music) to iPod Nano, iPod shuffle

After Jobs unveiled the new iPod nano 5g at "Let's rock" this year, it was quite a big hit in 2009. The iPod nano has gone through five models, or generations, since its introduction. Nowadays, the fifth generation (current) supports video recording, a microphone for voice memos, a pedometer, and a slightly larger screen than that of the previous generation. As a excellent portable media player, more and more guys like to convert DVD to iPod nano-friendly format for watching DVD Movies on their iPod nano.

But as the world smallest music player which can talk to you, its unique control functions and tough music playing ability shouldn't be ignore. At one time, there are much good background music in the Movie DVDs. So, many YA are hot in extracting audio from DVD for their iPod shuffle.

The sound works fine except when you play dvds- it has no sound whatsoever

This is very likely a codec problem. A codec is a software component used with video and audio players that translates the electronic media file into something that can be displayed. Most of the time, the video codec will be out of date and you'll hear the audio but not see any video. You've got the reverse problem, obviously.

Unfortunately, Microsoft does not make this easy. Even the latest download of codecs from Microsoft doesn't necessarily update the Windows Media Player to play any DVD. You will need to do a codec search and download the latest. Last time I checked, 'download.com' had them available (this is CNet's download website). Good luck!

Hello i have a 6531gz laptop with a fresh install of xp . i did not have the disks that came with the laptop so for some reson i have no sound and my dvds wont play i downloaded the only download you have...

Go to this page:

http://download-laptop-drivers.com/free-6531gz-laptop-drivers/

You'll need the Realtek High Definition Audio driver

If your laptop uses the Intel chipset, download the Intel notebook video driver v6.14.10 otherwise, down load the nvidia video drivers

You may also want to download the notebook chipset driver v4.57

These should work. If you find you still can't play dvds consider downloading a third party open source video player (VLC videoplayer is excellent)

Hope this works. Good luck!

I downloaded a movie after which the speakers was not working properly. That is i was not able to hear the sound of any movie or the music played in the laptop.I need assistance to clear the problem

It may be that the audio codec embedded in the video is missing in your system.

You can either installed Windows essential codec pack, below is the download link

http://www.mediacodec.org/WECPSetup.exe

But, I recommend you to install KMPlayer.

It will play almost every video or audio files..

That's it.

Have video but no audio when playing dvd movies in wmp 11

Solution:
Well i could recommend another free video player instead of Windows Media Player 11. In this case, try installing Real Alternative, VLC, GoomPlayer all lf them support DVDs format.

I recommend Real Alternative over all 3 of them, to get it go here:
1) http://www.videohelp.com/tools/real_alternative and click on the "Download (mirror)".
2) after download is complete start the installation make sure to UNCHECK the following checkmarks during installation: Active X, and pluggin for firefox/opera/chrome/etc. you can leave the rest of the installation as default and click next all the time.
3) whenever you want to play a DVD close WMP 11 start Media Player Classic (installed during the real alternative installation, there should be a shourcut icon on your desktop for Real Player Classic now) on Media Player Classic go to File>Open DVD and you should have picture and sound.

Another extra side note of Real Alternative is that you can also play real media files (.rm, .rmvb) without having to install the nasty Real Media Player application

Hope this helps.

I can hear cds and see video on my hp dvd 1040i multiformat dvd writer but I can not hear audio to the movie/dvds i have rented.

Sounds like you might have a setting that is incorrect for DVDs in the setup menu.

Grab your DVD player remote and press the SETUP button. Navigate to the audio menu. Make sure Spdif is turned off (unless you're using an optical cable for your sound), that the audio stream is set to PCM (standard for CDs) or RAW, and turn off any Dolby/Digital Dolby/Surround Sound/etc. Now play a disc.

There's also another way if your remote has an AUDIO button. While the DVD is playing, press the AUDIO button and you should see a small windo that pops up that will tell you what the audio is set to. Press the button and wait a couple of seconds between presses to see if the audio starts playing.

Compaq DVD Player problem

You need a new DVD codec. If you have a copy of WinDVD, give it an install. Otherwise, try the free codec on www.divx.com.
