E-machine modem wont turn on the fan and little yellow light on bottom are on

This is not a full solution, it is a partial solution, and something I would like you to try;

1) Unplug the computer from power.
2) Press, and hold the Power On button in for a count of at least 5 seconds.
Let go of the Power On button.

Perform this procedure 2 more times.

3) Plug the computer back into power. WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

If the computer doesn't turn on you have a bad Power Supply.

Weak voltage power rail

Computer may have enough power to light LED lights, and perhaps spin fans, but not enough power to turn the Processor on.

A) If ALL of the LED lights were on at once, they would use less than 1 Watt of power.

B) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts of power.

3) A typical Processor can use from 51 to 125 Watts of power.
Maximum power consumption will depend on what Processor it is.

So you see a Power Supply with a weak voltage power rail, will have enough power to light LED lights, and perhaps spin fans, but not enough power to turn the Processor on.

[ You press the Power On button.
The first chipset on the motherboard to receive power, is the BIOS chipset. { Basic Input/Output System}

BIOS looks to see what devices are installed, does a Ram Memory count, turns the Processor on, then hands the computer over to the Operating System.

{Windows XP and Windows 7, are but two examples of an O/S }

I do not see what model number of eMachines you have, listed here.
If it is Not one of the slimline models, you may want to try swapping the Power Supply with a KNOWN to be good one.

I post this with the thought in mind, that there may be an unused desktop computer around, and perhaps you could borrow it's Power Supply for a test unit.

This may sound far fetched, as far as having a spare working desktop computer around, but I have had a reply from a poster who stated their relative had one.

If the Power Supply works, you know what the problem is, and how to solve it. Replace the Power Supply.

Replacing a Power Supply in a desktop computer may seem daunting, if you have never performed this procedure before.
It really isn't.

I can guide you on here, and add links which I believe may be beneficial.

Post back in a Comment.

Electric went out, when i turned on computer, nothing works except the green lite on power supply flashes

It sounds as though the power supply is defective and needs to be replaced.
Depending on the make and model of your pc it will cost about $30 for the part and you can probably install it yourself.
I hope this hepled.
Good luck and have a great day.

The only thing i know that the power supply shows 300w max. computer is about 3 years old & will no longer turn on. there is no noise to indicate that it is working or getting power

These use a standard Power Supply that you can get from almost any computer shop

Better to get one slight higher rated so maybe a 350 or 400w PSU

you can replace these yourself as the connections are pretty easy to follow and only four screws around the supply hold it in

It is a common e-machine issu so long as it has not taken out anything on the motherboard you should be fine.
I have seen the emachines pwer supply take out the main board on occasion although it is quite rare

Computer not working. checked the power sup & its good. I see a light blinking in the mother board (next to the power connecter. How can I fix it?

Hmmm... if it won't turn on make sure the power button is pluged into the motherboard correctly.. if it is already and your computer still won't power up try switching out the power supply because sometimes they only go out partially, i had that happen with my old computer, the pwer supply only powered half the motherboard and unfortunantly it powered the cpu but none of the fans and completely fried my processor. Hope this helps, Daniel

Will not pwer up. Greenlight blinking on back

The green blinking light can mean there is a problem with the power supply.

Try unplugging the computer from the wall, and turning on the pc on switch.

After a few minutes, try plugging it back in.

If that does not start things up, you may have a bad power supply.

If the power supply is bad, these models take standard power supplies. You should get an ATX 350Watt or higher power supply.

They are easy to replace, unplug the power from the wall, disconnect all the cables inside the computer. Unscrew the four phillips screws outside the back of the computer where the power supply is attached to the case.

Remove and replace.

If you don't feel comfortable with this, a good local computer shop can help you out.

Gateway 838gm no video

Are any fans running? If not take the power supply to a reputable computer repair person. They can test it while you wait. If the power supply is good or the fans are working then I would remove that new RAM. My guess is the power supply is bad.

Good luck

No Power / Start-up

if the power button on the front of the tower has no indications, then you most likely have a failure of the power supply.

Open the tower, and inspect for burnt wires. If you find no burnt wires, remove all PCI expansion card and all external connections, then connect the power cord and try to turn on. If no power, then you will most likely need to replace the power supply.

It is the least expensive part to replace on a no power situation. If replacing the power supply fails, then the front IO panel (Power button board) is next, then the motherboard is the 3rd most likely part that may have failed.

Dimension 8200 will not turn on

Try a new power button. Also does the machine power light turn on at the front of the machine? if so check that the CPU is seated correctly as if it has come out of position then the machine doesn't boot. I would like to think power switch though.

Thanks J
