I only get 3 channels--and none of them I want! Does this TV only work with a cable attached? Which doesn't make it portable!

If you live in the US and the TV doesn't have the newer ATSC (digital) tuner, you're lucky to get 3 channels! The only analog broadcasts left in the US are "low power" & "translator" stations. The old NTSC analog tuners in TV's from just a few years back have little to tune since broadcasters have been moved and changed from analog to digital as directed by the FCC in 2009.

I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Plugged in, cable connected, turned on, says "No Signal"

OTA signal? Check your antenna orientation and if there are any tall objects that would interfere with the signal. (See antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for signal directions and distance to the station. antennaweb assumes an external antenna and is very conservative with station information.) Scan for channels with Menu > > (right arrow twice) up or down to AutoScan and hit enter. Use add channels to include stations with the antenna in a new direction.

If you are using the built-in antenna, you may not get digital signals. Try an external antenna (see above sites). Digital signals are enough or zero.

This TV doesn't have a cable tuner so a set top box would be needed for cable stations, check the box directions for the station you need to tune the TV to access the signal.

I hope this helps.

Hi We have a Phillips TV Model 20PT1553/07 Unfortunately the remote has been lost Is there any way to tune in the tv stations without the remote?

Using the controls on the television you can go into the menu and probabably under setup choose auto program. After running the program you should have all the channels which are available in your area or on the cable. The simplist solution would be to purchase a new remote. Their are many brands and you can get a unit which can control many devices which could be better than what you had before. If you just want a simple unit they are as cheap as $3 to $5. You can find them in the electronic department at any department store such as Target. Let me know if you need any more help.

Vhf is not picking up signal, no image

Well since all TV is now broadcast in High Definition that might be why you are no longer able to tune in a station. You will need the converter box.

Channel numbers above 13 do not come in. This started after a power failure. All numbers are received on another TV at that site. How do I program the stations that should be received?

Go into the TV's setup screen and set the tuning mode for "cable" or "CATV". It got set back to "air" after the power failure. When set for off-air tuning, only channels 2 through 13 tune properly. Set for cable and rescan channels and you'll be set.

Vason 10.4 inch portable tv tuning problem

I returned my original TV/DVD to the suppliers who then sent me a new one.
I experienced exactly the same tuning problem with the new TV.
The only way I could tune it, was by using the fine tune facility to find and store the missing stations. This took a lot of time and continuous button pushing, so patience is essential.
Once found and stored, the previously missing channels are perfect.
It would appear that the DVD player doesn't like DVD- recordings from my home recorder. If they are re-coded they work.
Anything recorded on DVD+ is fine.
In my opinion this is a good unit let down by a couple of niggling faults.
