same issue. only 3 months old and it starts pullin this **** except my online light isnt blinking at all and neither is my send light. My recieve light will work until i go to my network settings and try to repair connection and then i lose it too. After an hour of plugging and unplugging and restarting stuff it will finally act normal but if i step away for 20 minutes the send and online lights go out and i have to go through all of it again.

Just to give people a heads up. The InternetServiceProvider has access to be able to block your connection via your registered MAC address for what ever periods of time they wish. More often then not companies such as RoadRunner, Rogers Cable, etc will do this to customers purposely to harass them. If you cut down the amount of services you have or only have internet service and the company provides multiple services they do this to get the customer to call the company so they can offer a paid service call or get you to buy other products. They will deny that they have access to do this and suggest it is a line quality issue. Check http://192.168.100.1/signal.html to view your signal quality and tell them over the phone. Don't let them con you.

I work for a cable company. If Power, Recieve and Send lights are all solid and the only one that is blinking is online on these modems it means that the unit is not provisioned properly by your ISP or the device is malfunctioning. You will need to call your ISP and tell them this and they should be able to help you out pretty easily. You may also try unplugging the device and letting it sit for 5 min. and plug it back in.

Hope this helps.

My modem keeps going to standby mode

That is usually a problem with signal levels or the modem isn't set properlly. I don't know who your provider is but you should get hold of them and get them to fix it. They should send a tech out to check your signal. While they can check the modem remotely it does not provide them with the same information that a onsite check does. There is nothing you can check or change as a end user.

This can be signal levels, or signal quality (noise), or bad cableing and so on.

Problems with Motorola Surf SB5100

Have you tried unplugging the modem's power cord for at least a couple of minutes? If that doesn't work, have you called your ISP? The problem could be anything from a billing issue to an outage in your area, to a modem that needs to be replaced. Your internet service provider would be the best place to (try to) find help.

When I press standby button the standby led doesn't turn on

First, make sure you have an internet connection. If so, shut down the modem. Pull out the power cable and Coax cable from the back of the modem. Then first put the power cable in, then the coax cable and then turn on the unit. Restart your computer to verify a connection. Then try to press the standby button. If this doesn't work call your internet provider and they can reset the modem remotely for you.
Good Luck.

Can't connect Motorola sb5100 to a Linksys wrt54g

Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.

Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does not work.

Have you rebooted your modem after hooking it up? Each time you move your connection from your modem, it must be rebooted to issue new information specific to your equipment. Also, make sure you haven't pushed the "Standby" button on the top.
