It seams the dell monitors have bad componets installed on the inverter/power board in side the LCD monitor there are 2 transistor part# c5705 that go bad and this is caused by bad caps 1000uf 16volt, 470uf 16volt, If you open the monitor case there are 2 small board the one you need to look at is the larger one.if you can solder in the replacment parts you can fix it for under 15.00 dollars. Or you can get the complete board for 39.00 dollars bluestar international has all the parts instock.or lookup this number to order ther whole board yahoo search for 715l1074-h will give you a lis of site that sell this part.I repair these board every day this is as common a problem and all dell flat screen will see this sooner or later the new parts are better then original and cure this problem making dell a good LCD monitor without any more problems

I have two monitors. One Samsung SyncMaster 2233 an one Samsung SyncMaster 2243. My problem is that the SyncMaster 2233 for some reason is totally black. I'm usually not terrible with these things, but my...

hello Gabriel

Could you check your SyncMaster 2233 for me and tell me your findings. If this monitor is connected from your computer and when both switch on, did the led indication lamp from your monitor lit steady green? or this lead indication lamp lit green then turns red?

1. If the led indication lamp lit steady green then there is nothing wrong with the settings, configurations, driver or hardware on your computer. The problem would be the backlight inverter lamp in your monitor is busted. Or it could be the inverter board that supplies high voltage for the backlight inverter lamp that is bad. You can replace the backlight inverter lamp located at the upper and lower part of the monitor with a replacement part you can purchase at Inverter board repair can be risky if you don't have the skill. Even opening the back cover of your monitor and replace by yourself the inverter lamp is risky too, could inflict more damage. you can bring it to a local professional service man.

2. If the led indication lamp lit green then turns red, then if not the video card the power supply section from your monitor is bad, you can replace polarized capacitor with same value. Just inspect and those with blown or leaking capacitor. You can also check the terminals and solder joints for the 15-pin vga terminal connector where vga cable is connected on your monitor. Resolder the terminals.

3. If the red indication lamp did not lit at all. Power supply section in the monitor is bad. You can check the output voltage from the power supply section. +5VDC is supplied for the main board and +24VDC is for the inverter board. Replace leaking or blown capacitor with same value.

Just remember, this should be done when computer and monitor is turn off
Post back if you have more questions. I am willing to give you assistance.

Apple Cinema HD Display 30'' black screen, power light blinking

I don't know what might have happened, but a number of years ago I had an apple monitor and the power light on it started blinking, so I got in touch with apple and they told me that it's flashing an error code, so they told me what the blinking indicated and fixed it.

So I think the blinking of the power light on your monitor could be indicating an error code so I suggest you call apple and they will identify what the error is indicating.

Help! Computer will not boot-up to bios check,

I would look for the CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard, if there is one, and while PC is off take of the jumper, then put it back in place. But the more easier option is to just simply remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard, unplug PC completely first, leave it out for a few seconds, then replace it. If that works, you may come across some operating system start options to start the os, depending of what version you have make sure you select the Delete sleep mode data/hibernation data(something along those line), and start OS normally. By the looks of it you've tried everything possible, but last resort would be to try the resetting CMOS/removing CMOS battery. If all fails, try testing using a different power supply.

If you cant get into the setup menu then I would think the monitor is defective, you did not state if you hooked up the monitor to a computer that has a vga port that works.

Blinking on and off

No offense, Tyson, but would you mind explaining your question a bit better? You wrote "when i out the power cable in it"and that really confuses me. Did you unplug the power cable or did you plug it in?

Also, how long ago did this happen? Was there anything you can think of that may have caused this problem?

If the CPU fan is not rotating, you may have a problem with your power supply.

I am guessing your system is powering on, but not showing anything on the monitor.

Try removing every thing from the computer, starting with the power cable. Then add back only the monitor and turn it back on. If it works, one of the items you left unplugged is causing a problem.

If that does not work, again remove the power cable and open the case. Remove all expansion cards other than video, disconnect all of the drive power and data cables (CD, DVD, hard drive, etc.) then plug in only power and monitor to see if you get anything.

If still no go, unplug power cable, carefully remove the RAM and put it exactly back where it came from. At this point, if you still get nothing you are down to 4 components:
power supply
video card

If the CPU fan is still not spinning, I would suspect it is the motherboard or power supply. Get a can of air and blow out the CPU fan to make sure it rotates easily.

Let me know if you need more help.

No display at start

If you provide some background information, I can answer your question better and faster.

When did this first occur?
Can you think of anything that happened just before this happened that might have caused it?
What trouble shooting steps have you already taken?
Do you hear any beeps?
If you unplug the monitor, does it display anything at all that indicates it is working but not receiving video from the computer?

If there is no indication of display, try another monitor or try the monitor on another computer.

If the monitor is good, next check out the computer.

First steps to take are to simplify the system to the bare necessities of being able to display an image.

Unplug the power cable and then disconnect every single bit of equipment attached to the computer except the monitor.

Reconnect power cable and retry rebooting.

If still no display, unplug power cable and open the case of the computer. You can have a knowledgeable friend do this if you feel uncomfortable opening the computer.

Once open, remove any expansion cards other than the video card. Disconnect all the power and data cables from every drive in the system (hard drive, CD or DVD, floppy drive, etc.).

Reconnect power and try booting to see if you have a display.
Let me know if you need further help.
