Question about MGI Software Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have MGI PhotoSuite 8.1, and it has developed a problem. When I attempt to directly paste an image into it, I get the following message: The instructions a "0X00493680" referenced memory at "0X001d3000". The memory could not be written. Whether I click ok, or cancel, (which it says will debug the program), the program closes. When this problem started, I used to be able to paste an image directly, but would lose it upon closing with a message given. During these times, I can successfully paste an image and save it IF I transfer it from another program! (??) How can I fix this, please?

SOURCE: error messages when i try to access Photo Explosion Deluxe Ver 3

Hi, First do the disk error check.
You can do this by going to My Computer, Right click C drive, goto properties.
and do a disk check.
Once done. Runt the IPE and see if it works. if you see any problem. Uninstall the IPE. download this software and run it. http://www.ccleaner.com/

Install the IPE now.
Hopefully it works.

Probably your system file the explorer.exe is corrupted or your computer has virus.

First thing to do, restart your computer, boot on safemode and install updated antivirus. If its not possible you need to reinstall windows.

SOURCE: Explorer.EXE Application Error

That is not necessarily a virus, but surely it is a problem related to Windows operative system.

the first thing you can do is a system restore to a date before you started having the problem.
ntivirus
After system restore, install an antivirus software and run a complete virus scan.

If that does not solve the problem, then Windows must be reinstalled using a Windows setup disk, and an external USB cd unit connected to the Acer One.

I need to get MGI photosuite that will work with Windows 7 64 bit. where can I find it??

Just today I was able to get PhotoSuite 4 to work in Windows 8 (64 BIT). PhotoSuite 4 (P.S. 4) is dependent upon Internet Explorer 5 (I.E. 5) browser for its content/software to work. The original P.S. 4 CD has
I.E. 5 installer, I tried to install and the install quit with a check box to force install of all components. Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 was not affected in any way, that's how I got back here anyway.
I have read ton's of suggestions and one mentioned I.E. Browser dependency and walla it was the answer that took me ten minutes to get it up and running.
Good luck!

What MGI Photosuite will work on Windows 7?

I just installed Photosuite 4.0 on Win 7; 64 bit. Works just as great as it did with ME and XP before. Since MGI sold out an error message pops up about some liquid something. I think it is a dead URL to the former MGI site.

If you have the original CD's then follow next:

Good luck!

Two computers ago, and two operating systems ago I purchased MGI Photosuite 4 software. I have been using it for about 10 years. I have hundreds of collages saved that require the MGI software to read and...

Wndows installers have changed over the years, so it's not a surprise that the program couldn't be reinstalled. The Roxio Photosuite 8 is listed as a Win2000-XP product; so it may not be the correct release for Win7 either unless you use a workaround. Look here for the current Roxio slide show products: http://www.roxio.com/enu/store/photo.html?rTrack=m_pro_photo

Workarounds: go with a dual-boot or virtual computer system. Win7 Pro and Ultimate let you run a virtual XP computer for free (download two programs - the virtual PC software and then XP mode). All other choices will require a licensed version of XP installed either in the virtual computer program or in a second partition for dual-boot. I've found that files can not be transferred directly from XP mode to the real computer; they must be stored on external media. Then install your software as you would on any stand-alone computer.

I hope this helps.

I want to use my Photosuite 4 Platinum with Vista. Works great on xp but not Vista. How can I can fix it so it will work on Vista?

This problem is all about Internet Explorer 10. W7 has a simple solution. Just go to 'Installed updates' and remove IE10. Voila! MGI 4 works just fine.

W8 is another whole ball of wax. It comes with IE10, so until someone gives us a registry edit to fix this problem then W8 users are SOL.

Running MGI Photosuite version 8.05 in Vista

MGI Photosuite on Vista, THE FINAL SOLUTION!!! First you need to get hold of an MGI disc or a download. I have been trying to get MGI Photosuite III SE to install on Vista for months without success and then when I thought I'd finally sorted it I could not launch the program due to a script error. You do not need Virtual PC, Virtual XP or any add-ons. Simply find and right click the the MGI setup file, check the run in compatibility mode as Windows XP SP2 and install. After install, send a program launch shortcut to your desktop, right click, go to properties and check the Windows XP compatibility mode once again. Finally, while you still have the compatibility screen open add a tick check to Run As Administrator. Hey presto my beloved MGI Photosuite is back! MGI is fantastic for being user friendly and simple, and although I know other users insist there are better programs, I’ve tried loads and I still think it’s a winner.
