Can't fit subwoofer amp leads to pioneer DEH-2000MP Head unit

I previously had a pioneer head unit with my amplifier subwoofer leads fitted straight into the back, i have recently bought the Pioneer DEh-2000MP head unit and the leads from my amp seem to have no where to go? Is there any way i can get the amp wired to the head unit because at the moment i only have my 6x9's running fromt the head unit and have no way of using my subwoofer. I have the Vibe subwoofer with built in amplifier.

Hi, The sub i have is the vibe evo 10" with built in amplifier (think its an 800 watt amp). I'm not too sure about the wiring, i just had the usual earth wire, wire to battery then a main lead going from the amplifier which used to be able to be put straight into my old head unit, however the new head unit doesn't have the ports to put the leads into?

A quick easy solution is to use a scosche car audio line out converter. Here is the link to it http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/151/sfID2/159/productID/994 They say there only good for 80 watts but ive got a 800 watt kenwood in a 2008 w a factory radio. Just run the speaker wires to your 6 x9s. plug the rcas in to the box. It works fine use the two little screws to make fine adjustments to the subs. If you have any questions just let me know.

Pioneer head units only distribute like 200 rms or so to the speakers. you might have to find a blue maybe even blue with white striped wire and nick it just enough to tie your amp wire around it. tape it up and see if it works.

Hi, what you want to do is just connect the speaker wires from the head unit straight across to the pre-amp inputs of the amp. If you have a sub, also connect the pre-amp outputs of the head unit to the 2 sub inputs of the amp. Connect the blue wire of the head unit to the turn-on terminal of the amp and connect power wires to both units. May I ask what speakers are you using?

Connecting Pioneer DEH-2000MP to an amplifier

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You would need a special adapter that connects to the speaker wires of the Pioneer DEH-2000MP and converts them to line level RCA ports. Something like the image below and available from here or most car stereo stores.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

No audio to speakers from deck, just to amp

It's possible (probable) that the head unit has a blown internal amplifier IC. Measure the DC voltage on each of the 8 speaker wires on the head unit. Place the black lead on the chassis of the head unit. Probe each wire with the red lead. All should read approximately 1/2 of the voltage on the yellow wire. If you get some that are significantly higher or lower, disconnect all speaker wires from the harness and measure again. If the voltage is still not ~1/2 of the voltage on the yellow wire, the IC is almost certainly defective.

For the external amp, you need to check the shield ground for the head unit. The following page shows you how.

Test RCA shield ground
