You can use Gmail's secure connection settings if you need
to send sensitive information via email.
This provides some measure of protection against hackers and
hijackers who may try to intercept your data as it travels from your browser to
To send a secure email on Gmail, modify your account's
settings so that you're using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure HTTPS rather than unsecured HTTP.
Sign in to your Gmail account.
Click the "Gear" icon in the upper right corner
of the screen. Choose "Mail Settings" from the drop-down menu.
Click "Always Use HTTPS."
Find this option in the "Browser connection"
section of the General tab.
Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.
Log out of and then back in to your Gmail account.
The URL in the address bar of your browser should read
"HTTPS:" rather than "HTTP."
Click "Compose Mail" and type your email
When finished, click "Send" to send a secure email
