Question about EA - Electronic Arts Rock Band

To play Rock Band without vocals?

When I chose to start a solo tour on Rock band with my guitar hero guitar, this pops up on the screen:

"no microphone has been detected, please connect microphone to play as vocalist"

I don't want to play as a vocalist, i want to play guitar only. I don't even have a microphone, so at the moment it won't let me play ANYTHING! I've gone through all the settings and can't find a way to change it to guitar.

Do i need a microphone to play Rock Band as a guitarist? OR does that message mean that the game is faulty?

Seriously you guys are hilarious, nobody's even given this guy a true and or correct answer. I too have had this problem and it's INFURIATING. Just trying to play the damn game: No you don't have to download anything

Solution:

Enter Game mode/ Training mode whatever mode USING THAT INSTRUMENT. I repeat DO not use the controller (the xbox360 controller) unless you want to use the microphone. It makes sense the microphone has no control hence by default if your'e using the controller the game THINKS you want to play with the microphone.

ROCK ON!!

We went through this all too. Even took the game back and the same thing happened. After scratching our heads we decided to hook up the PS3 to the Playstation network. When we turned on the Rockband game it downloaded some things off of the network and works perfectly fine now. Quite simple to do!

Where to go after buying songs on band hero for ps3

Band Hero Songs for PS3
The title of the latest game in the Hero franchise is a little misleading. Band Hero sounds like a new direction for the franchise, a completely new brand. But other Hero games already include a full band (World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Metallica). It's a strange title for a game that's basically Guitar Hero 5-2. Band Hero uses the same framework and ideas as GH5, just with less hard rocking and a lot more American Idol.

That's not to say that the entire setlist comes from current pop radio. You still have rock classics like "Bad Reputation" from Joan Jett and '90s hits like "Two Princes" from The Spin Doctors. But the special appearances in this game are decidedly more modern, with Taylor Swift and Adam Levine instead of Johnny Cash and Carlos Santana. The stages, clothes, and characters are more pop-infused as well, but I've never found the backgrounds and characters themselves to be the focus of these types of music games. Unless you're watching someone else play, the most important part of a music game is its playability.

Click the image above to check out all Band Hero screens.

Gameplay-wise, everything in Band Hero is the same as in GH5. You can still immediately jump into any song that's playing on the start screen. Every track is available in Quickplay without any codes or tedious unlocking. You can play a song with any mix of instruments you want. (Four lead guitars? No problem!) The career progression is a quick trip through increasingly more difficult songs without any repeats. Band Hero even includes all the same, varied multiplayer options from GH5. It's the same framework, so everything that GH5 did well, Band Hero also does excellently.

But that also means Band Hero contains the same niggling problems as GH5. The vocals are a little too hard to gauge pitch on. And, as a Hero game, even the lower difficulties are a little too punishing, which stands out even more in an increasingly casual-oriented franchise like this. I have friends who were frustrated by Band Hero's Medium setting, but who can competently play through Rock Band's games on Hard. It's not really a problem, but Band Hero also has 20 fewer songs on its tracklist (65 versus GH5's 85).

Unfortunately, the guitar that comes with the Guitar Hero does not work with Rock Band or Rock Band 2. Rock Band, as you mentioned, recognizes the Wiimote as the controller for the microphone.

Unfortunately, you will have to get a guitar that is specifically designed for Rock Band.

I know this isn't the answer that is popular, but if you vote for my solution, please vote at least "Thanks for Trying".

Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments are NOT compatible on the Wii. They are compatible on the 360, the PS3, and the RB drums for PS2. Activision went their own way with the Wii and made life difficult for all of the aspiring musicians on the Wii. Sorry.

My guitar from world tour wont work with rock band? can i fix it?

The Guitar Hero: World Tour guitar controller isn't compatible with Rock Band. They are made by different developers and to boost sales of their own controllers, each has different software for their controller. I think the only controller that does work is the Rock Band drums. They work with both games, but a World Tour controller is unlikely to work with Rock Band.

They are not compatible. The Rock Band 2 instruments are supposed to be compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour, but Rock Band and Guitar Hero III instruments don't work together.
