Re: I just got my calypso today. I had to unplug it
It appears your timer/main controller has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing. I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information. RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell. In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

I dont have a solution but mine is 7 yrs old and doing the EXACT same thing. I have had nothing but issues w this washer since I purchased it. Hope to find the answer w/o calling a service man for 500.00 :)
Good luck..Sorry, I had to vent :)
I had the same problem. The washer control board has an intermittent failure. If you unplug power for about 30 minutes then plug it back in you will get a PF code (power failure). Ignore this code and push start again. It may run till it finishes the cycle or it may start cycling again right away. A new board costs about $180 at repairclinic.com
The problem possibly might be the motor brushes.Take back panel off and disconnect the motor. Remove the bolts while holding the motor in and take out motor. Finally check for the condition of brushes. It would have gone bad
The FL error code means: Flood Condition: FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed
With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.
Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.
This problem I see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.
There is a check "valve" in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. You can remove this piece, and might avoid changing the pump.

Sounds like your pump is leaking. if it is leaking when you are on a spin cycle.
now if it is stuck on f1 cycle and wont drain unplug and let stay unpluged for 60 seconds and replug and see if you can restart on drain and spin cycle. let me know if I can help with any other problems.
Error is Insufficient cycle! first try to unplug the appliance for 5 minutes and then restart it and see if the system reset! if not you need hands on service. Not every situation is easy. Please let me know what happened? Plese rate me at our site too, before you sign off! Thank You for using our service!
You ever hear of dog years? Well Calypso follows those same guidelines. So your machine is 35 years old. These are the Edsel's of washing machine fame. I had a Calypso for 6 1/2 years. 3 pumps, numerous circuit boards, drive motors, phone calls and arguements with Whirlpool, along with machine downtime. I finally junked it and bought a Whirlpool Duet 9200 HT (get the made in Germany machine). A world of difference in wash quality. Fresh smelling unballed clean clothes. The Calypso was removed from the market and the subject of a class action lawsuit. Just Google it and start reading. Get comfortable first. There's a lot to read.
