Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

Xbox 360 Identity Crisis

My problem isn't a new one but I wish to present a perspective I've never heard explored. When attempting to play an Xbox 360 disc I often receive the message stating that I must place the disc in an Xbox 360 console. This occurs about 90% of the time regardless of the discs condition or the consoles temperature. On the other hand, Xbox Original discs, provided that they are supported and not severely damaged, work 100% of the time. I find this interesting because what it suggests is not that there is trouble reading the disc but rather that the console does not recognize itself. My ignorance of the finer points of tech prevent me from speculating on this further so I ask you fine folks. Is there any logical reason why an Xbox 360 would believe it is an original Xbox? Does the driver switch between the two modes when reading each type? Could it be getting stuck?

Seriously, aerick. I think we are all aware that a possible solution to just about any problem would be to take advantage of the products warrantee. Shouldn't we accept it as a given that those posting here can/will not excercise that option?

One of the lights used for reading discs may be out if that is the problem just send it back to microsoft to have them repair it granted you have insurance (warrantee) on your xbox.

Tried playing the new zombie map, call of dead, and when I go to play it starts loading, then says error content has changed..i've tried clearing the cache, deleting my profile, reloading it,...

This probably isn't an issue with your individual system. It is probably an error with the servers that you are being connected to. With the new Call of Duty map pack being recently released with a lot of people downloading it, there are bound to be some bugs and glitches inside and outside of gameplay. As frustrating as it is, I would just wait a few days and see if it straightens itself out. If not, I would call Xbox Live customer support.

Bought a 250gb hard drive to put into new x box slim console to play an original x box game....still will not play or recognize the game (SNK vs CAPCOM) what am I missing??? Do I need a disk to download???

Hi there, not all original Xbox games can be played on the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim, I came across the same problem myself. I have checked the compatible games lists and cannot find the game you mention on any of them so I am presuming that this game unfortunately will not play on the Xbox 360.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Just one game my xbox360 will not play

The game that does not play is most likely scratched, I would recommend buying a new one or attempting to fix the scratched one.

When i put an Xbox 360 game in it tries to play it as a DVD movie. please help!!!

When you try to play a DVD movie or an Xbox 360 game disc on your Xbox 360 console, you may receive an error message. This article presents step-by-step guidance to help you determine whether your disc is playable.
SYMPTOMS When you try to play a disc, you may receive the following error message: Can’t read this DVD.
CAUSE The DVD or game disc may be dirty or damaged. Because the console cannot read the disc well, it may even mistake a game disc for a DVD and report this error. If this problem occurs with multiple discs, even clean and undamaged discs, there may be a problem with your Xbox 360 console.
Note If you receive a different error message, such as one of the following messages, the problem is a different problem:
Error message 1 Can't play DVD. Wrong region code. Error message 2 Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD. If you receive one of these error messages, see the corresponding Knowledge Base article: 907620 While attempting to play a standard DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can't play DVD. Wrong region code" 908645 While attempting to play a DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD"

THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.

Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. If the disc is damaged, do one of the following: • Because DVD discs are not game discs and the disc was damaged because of misuse of some type, such as not storing the disc in its case, the only thing that you can do is buy a new one. • If you feel that the disc was damaged by the Xbox 360 console in some way, please contact Xbox Customer Support. To do this, please visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.xbox.com/support/contact

A couple new games i bought won't load. its says the disc is unreconizable. how do fix this i heard there was a password or code to put in, is this true. and whats the code ? and where do i put it in?

Those games that you bought, if they are just normal Xbox games then you have to go to the Xbox 360 settings and make it so you can play normal Xbox games. If they're Xbox 360 then I don't know what to tell you then.
Happy fixing :u)

My son saved money and bought a Xbox 360 Arcade. He did not realize that he could not play his xbox games on his new system. Is there an upgrade to allow old xbox games to be played on on the xbox 360

Some game are compatible with the new xbox 360. They are called backwards compatible and you do need to flash upgrade the OS on the new xbox 360 system.

You need to go to the xbox website and go to support and download the flash update then burn it to disk and put it on the xbox to update the software. Again not all old games are compatible with the new xbox system. If your buying used games like I do make sure it says bc next to the title before buying them.
Here is the link to the upgrade
