Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60XS955 60" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Blue dots on LCD screen

The blue dots started as a small circle of dots in the middle of the screen. Withing days, there were more dots and now they are spread out all over, but concentrated on the middle of the screen. What can we do?? Our TV is only about 3 years old and we do not wish to buy a new one,as we spent over $2500 for this one. We replaced the lamp about 4 months ago. This dot thing just started about 3-4 weeks ago. please help! Blue dots look like the Big Dipper - about 18 dots.
SONY chat Technician says: "checked for the information and there is no optical block issue for this TV". KDF-60xs955 Told me to reboot, reset to factory settings. Don't know how that makes the dots go away.

the solution is somewhat helpful although someone added words to my original posting. I never stated that our tv is 3 years old or that we paid 2500 for it or that we replaced the lamp 4 months ago. I don't know if i believe what i read on this site now.

The model indicated uses what is called a Optical Light Engine, it is a very expensive part and likely is your problem---not much else will cause this trouble.

I have blue dots on the screen. I cleaned the glass on the projection bulb and the prizm but still have blue dots.

Your tv is an LCD projection one - in which the image is generated by 3 small LCD screens. The blue dots are pixels from the blue LCD that are dead - always fully open. The only fix is to replace the LCD panel and that is going to cost you around $300.

Contact Panasonic as this is a software issue they need to send a technician to repair. It requires a special tool they connect to the LCD drive panel to correct the TV..

Two blue dots on the screen

its sounds like the guns has burnt your yube, when switching of does your tv show a bright circle in the middel, or while watching. Smack your tv on the side while on see if the picture goes away or make a bright circle in the middel, this is caused by a bad solder joint but you wont get rid of the bunt pixels sorry.
