(this is a solution that i gave someone who had a wireless router... you will also need to forward the same ports even if you have a wired router...)

Ok... I have the best solution to this problem... Obviously you have wireless internet... so that means you have a wireless router... you need to login to the wireless router settings... usually it is192.168.1.1 that you type into your browser by default... if it is not192.168.1.1 in order to find your router address you need to click on start.... run... type in cmd... then in the command prompt type in ipconfig/all... your router address will be the number next to default gateway... put that into your browser and login to the router... dont exit the command box just minimize it because you will need it later...if you have not changed the password its usually either password...admin.... or nothing at all.... once you are logged into your router you need to forward the open the ports for your xbox 360 for it to beable to connect to xbox live with an open NAT... (meaning you can connect to everyone without problems) once you get to port range forwarding you are going to have to put in 6 ports for best performance... name them all XBL or XboxLive... and forward these ports... 87-89 UDP.... 3073-3075 UDP..... 80-80 TCP... 88-88 UDP...3074-3074 BOTH... and 53-53 BOTH... make sure they are enabled... find out what your start ip address is... i changed mine to 192.168.1.200with a maximum number of users at 50... (this will come in handy and i will tell you why later...) turn on your xbox 360 and go to network settings and manually change your settings... so if you have your ip address range from 192.168.1.200 - 192.168.1.249 like me... change the ip address of your xbox 360 to 192.168.1.240 (the computers that connect to your wireless router always take the low ip addresses... so setting your xbox 360 ip address to 192.168.1.240 will make it so there arent any ip address conflicts...) remember the box i told you to minimize? you are going to have to input the numbers in the command box into the boxes in the xbox.... 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask...default gateway for the gateway... enter in th e dns settings... first one is primary... second one is secondary... save and you are done with that... if you have your ethernet cord hooked up from your computer to your xbox 360 click on start... control panel... network connections...click and highlight the network bridge and your wireless connection...once you have them both highlighted... right click... and click on bridge connections... and everything should work fine...

You may also try power cycling your router/modem. Just yank the power, wait about 20 seconds, and plug it all back in. If this doesn't help, run the Xbox LIVE connectivity test and see what it says, update with your test results if it's not too much. :)

Good luck,

Nate

Hi, if it wont connect to the internet, i reccomend, shuting it down, taking the disc out of the tray, unplugging the hard drive, memory card, then unplugging all the cables round the back, then using a vacuum to clear all the dust out of all the crevices, be careful not to open the case unless you dont mind voiding the warranty or you have the skils/tools/expertise to do so, also if its wireless your using, take out the network adapter, keep it unplugged from the power for a minute or so, then plug it back in.

hope that solved our problem :P

Check you internal connections. Make sure that you have set up the xbox to the network with the required network name and password if you have that established.

My xbox keeps coming up update now but wont do it if u say no it freezes

Check to see if your xbox 360 is connected to the internet. If your xbox is connected to the internet and still is not allowing you to update check your xbox setting. Sometimes your parental control on xbox 360 can stop you from updating your xbox. If all else fails try to take your hard drive off the xbox and reset your console to factory settings

My xbox 360 wont play a xbox game even though it is on a compatible list. It is saying that the hard drive may be disconnected. It is playing 360 games fine. Any advise would be great

To play regular Xbox games on the 360, you MUST have an internet connection when you start up the game, to download the compatibility patch from XBL. Once you have the patch you won't need the internet to play the game from then on.

My xbox 360 wont connect to xbox live and ive tried everthing

things you can do..... first start by connecting your 360 to the router and run a test through the system setting menu on your 360 dash board.... to do this go to system setting menu and select the network setting menu.... after selecting network setting there should be an option to test you`xbox live connection.... this is the first step in trouble shooting.... if your xbox connects to the network or router than the problem may be in the Internet connection.... after you have a connection between the xbox and the router... connect the router to the Internet and run the the test again... if you are connected to the network and the internet but still not to xbox live try doing a system update to update your system with xbox live.... after doing all of these steps you may have purchased and xbox that has been banned from xbox live and will not be able to join xbox live..... a more simple solution is that you may not have an xbox live account and simply need to set one up... this can be done through the xbox or you can go to www.xbox.com and set up a live account... you can also find FAQ's and trouble shooting steps there

Cant connect to internet using internet stick

The internet stick you have would be a USB device which is not supported by Xbox 360, you can connect to Xbox 360 wirelessly or through a wired connection

One way of connecting wireless internet is through the ethernet cable to a laptop paired with your wireless router, or you would have to buy a Wi-Fi adapter for Xbox 360 which retails around $90.

Since Xbox 360 does not have a software like a PC, it is unable to recognize the USB internet stick you have as a internet connection, it may probably end up showing it up just as a USB device on the system settings menu on the Xbox 360 dashboard

Hi,

If you have the Xbox connected to the internet (You can double check this by going to 'Test Connection' in the settings area), then you still need to create a Gamertag to connect to Xbox Live. You can do this on a normal PC on the Xbox website, or on the console itself.

If Test Connection shows another problem, post more details so we can help.

My xbox 360 wont connect to the internet and its not the ethernet cable. I think it has to with the ethernet plug-in in the xbox. Help me please.

Try gently pushing the connector on the 360 around, it may be dislodged. If not, probably time to get it looked at by Microsoft.
