Closed-Captioning on Philips tv

How can i turn off the closed-captioning on a philips 20pt6341/37 tv without the original remote...i cant seem to get my universals to work and do not have the original>

    I can turn off the CC with the remote, but everytime I turn the TV off & back on, the CC returns. I've had the TV for over 2 years & this has just started.

I had the same problem. I got a Philips Magnavox Universal Remote that has a closed captioning button [CC]. Here's a link to the same type:

There must be a button marked "CC" on your TVs remote control. Press it once. It will make the closed caption windwow off.

Used the tv front bazel frame manual control buttons,get into the tv menu look for Colse Captioning funnctions turn off all cc to off.Very difficult to turn Close Captioning off,without a remote.Try website like Rmotes.com to buy an original remote.

When watching television there is a small black box with words


The closed captioning has been turned on...

To turn it off use the original TV remote and press the "CC" button located next
to the "0" button until the Closed Captioning is set to off.

Check the menu or display set up - highlight Closed Captioning with remote and disable, if you are using cable box - and have no success, go to the settings on the cable remote and check the closed captioning there.
