Question about Dell Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Resolution Problem!! I am having this screen resolution problem after reformatting... I have a HDTV(1080p) hooked up to my computer as secondary/primary monitor, but now I can't fit the picture to screen on my HDTV, I can only fit to screen with 1152 by 648, if I pick 1280 by 1024 the picture would only show in the middle of the screen. And for my computer monitor if I pick any other resolution besides 1280 by 1024 the picture would like very weird and distorted, it was never like this before... Can anyone help? Thanks

If you have the same monitor as when you bought the PC do a default reset. should take care of it. If you have a new monitor, just keep tweaking it. you'll get there. play with the settings.

Need to shrink my computer screen back to normal size have windows vista

Right click on any open area of the desktop screen and select Screen Resolution. There should be a recommended Resolution size or keep trying different resolution till it fits the screen. Your screen size will determine your resolution. 17in 19in 22in 24in etc.

When i put pc on this message comes up on screen saying input not supported and it floats round in a little box.

Hello,
This generally means you have the display resolution set higher then the monitor can support. To fix this press F8 after you turn the computer on. You may have to press it a couple times before the windows loading screen. A black menu will come up. Select safe mode. Your PC will load into safe mode with minimal drivers and settings. Go to the control panel and select display. Change your screen resolution to something lower then the setting is is at right now. If your screen is 19" or smaller try a setting of 1024x768 for starters. If its 20" or higher try 1280x1024 for starters.

Hook vga cord to hdtv and optiplex desk top get

Try a different display setting, for example, 1280 x 800 or 1024 x 768. Once you can see (computer) display, then move onto the best resolution which your display card support for your HDTV. Good luck..

(btw, if your dell has two vga sockets, get another vga cable. Then set your computer to a dual display mode, one for your computer and the other for HDTV. this way you will never lose your display.)

I have a tv screen which i use for my computer.I have the hdmi cords going from the video card on the back to my tv.why is it not working

Hi,
Make sure your t.v. screen supports your display card resolution. Try lowering your display card resolution in display settings. Make sure your t.v. is set to AVI.

Best wishes,

Could it be my aga card?

display mode may not be compatible with the other PC...

some screens cant display certain resolutions. try changing the resolution down to 800x600 and start from there.

if it works, boost resolution up one list at a time in the windows display setting

Out of range external monitor

The max resolution supported by that LCD HDTV is 1366 x 768. If your screen resolution in XP is set higher than that, you'll run into issues. Reduce your screen resolution first, then run the nVidia multiple display setup.

Video problem on my Dell Dimension 4600 PC, HELP ASAP.

the resolution set by default when you load your graphics driver is outside the range of your monitors capability.

try starting in safe mode then adjust your resolution to 640 by 480 then restart.
if this works, adjust upwards to 1024 by 768
then up again till the screen blanks.
when it does, dont panic, wait 20 seconds and the settings will restore - you then have the optimum settings for your monitor.

good luck
