Question about Acer TravelMate 4200 Notebook

2 Answers

Battery Life I have an acer travelmate 4200 and the battery life is horrible. I can only work on it unplugged from a power source for about 20 mins before it dies. I've already tried deleting applications, etc off my computer that take up space and that I dont need. Any suggestions?

TIP:

All new batteries need to be "Conditioned".

That is, run your laptop on battery only until the battery is almost fully discharged. Then recharge it as usual with the AC adapter.

Do this several times.
You can still use your laptop as normal but avoid constant use of the AC adapter until your new battery has been through several full discharge and recharge cycles.

This will prolong the life of your battery and give you longer usage time in battery only mode.

Regards,

Mike.

Acer battery not charging

The first thing that comes to mind is, does it need replacing? How old is it? Like anything it has a finite life, and power cycle life. Or, Is it a replacement? Have you tried another Cord/Charger with the EXACT same power specs?

Acer 6493 stop charging in 10 sec

Buy a new battery. The battery is dead. Batteries only have a useful life, then they have to be replaced. If the power cord works and allows you to use the laptop, then your battery is definitely bad if it does not charge or if it does not let you stay on the computer without shutting down after a short period.

Acer travelmate 4100 works fine with no battery

Try to use another OS, like Ubuntu Live, and see if the mouse and KB will freeze. If they wont freeze, It is better to reinstall the OS.

If they will freeze again with Ubuntu, then I am sorry to tell you that the battery life has finished.

The only thing to do is to replace it for another one new.

Thanks for rating!!

My battery dies within 20 minutes of use. I've let my battery charge overnight but i still only get about 20 to 30 min of life out of it. is that standard for an Acer Aspire 3000?

If the battery is more than one year old, or has been often used with the power supply plugged in, it might have degraded.

Sometimes you can regenerate it to some lesser extent by completely draining it and recharging overnight (but that's apparently what you already did).

So I'm afraid you will have to replace it.

A new Acer battery (4400 mAh) should get you at least three hours life, and up to six hours by being real careful (lowest screen luminosity, no disk activity, no heavy usage: e.g., vanilla word processing)

First power drain your system take the battery out unplug the acadapter and then push the power button on the laptop and keep it pressed for 2 mins without connecting any power souce this will drain the static power from the syteme after few mins connect the battery first and then connect the ac adapter that should take care of the issue.

Locked out of BIOS

unplug everything from the laptop, remove the battery from the back and hold the power button for 30 seconds. On most computers, this will reset the cmos without needing to remove the cmos battery.
