How do I turn it on. Is the red showing or not showing

To turn the Explorer 240 Bluetooth headset on, press and hold the call control button until the indicator glows blue. You will hear ascending tones. The headset will then show intermittent flashes of blue. You should only see a red light when powering the headset off or if you are charging the headset you will see a solid red light. When I plug my Motorola H710 bluetooth in to charge the light only blinks red and when I use it it never seems to turn on?!

Here's the instructions for charging.
Plug the Motorola charger into the end of
the headset.
The indicator light turns red when the battery is charging. It may take up to 1 minute for the indicator light to turn on. When the headset's battery is fully charged (about 2hours), the indicator light turns green.

From your information, it may very well be that the battery should be replaced if the red light doesn't go off as it should.

Here's a link to the full instructions. I hope this helps.

Try pairing it like this: Put the phone into pairing mode. Begin with the headset turned off. Press and hold down the silver call control button in for 6-10 seconds. The light will flash blue first. Continue to hold the button down then release the button when the indicator light starts flashing red then blue. The units should link up together.
