Our network setup consists of the following:

    • A custom built gateway computer, running a Linux distribution designed for gateways.

    • A modified Linksys router with custom firmware, used as a switch and wireless access point.

    • Two gigabit switches to distribute the network throughout the building.

    We
have ten computers, three digital set-top-boxes, two XBox 360's, one
PS2, one Wii, and the PS3 hooked up to the network and everything is
    running smoothly.

We have done just about anything and everything we can to try and connect to the PS Network.
    We have tried:

    • connecting normally through the gateway with uPNP.

    • connecting normally through the gateway with the proper ports forwarded to the PS3 (with the PS3 having a static IP address).

    • connecting normally through the gateway with ALL ports (1-65535) forwarded to the PS3 (with the PS3 having a static IP address).

    • connecting straight to the Verizon ONT box (i.e. the fiber optics to ethernet, phone and coax converting box).

    • connecting
through a neighbor's internet connection, the neighbor having a
different ISP (in this case Comcast), in the ways explained above.

    We
have been in contact with Verizon to confirm that there were nothing
blocking the traffic to or from our house that would affect the PS3's
abilities to connect to the PS Network.
We have also contacted a Sony representative
supervisor and spoken to him about this issue, as well as following his
directions on what to do to set up the networking for the PS3 to work.
Nothing of what he told us to try yielded any positive results.

ack sorry for the double post, Was not aware that it posted it, My biggest advice is just wait until they release a patch or take it back and get something else, because Sony was very unintelligent and kept telling me it was my fault, my config doing it even know we followed the guys requests step by step.

Ok, obviously this is an issue with your system communicating with the PSN servers. There is no real fix for the issue, but a couple of steps you can try. If you didn't already. Try resetting your router. There could also be network conflicts between your PS3 and another device, but that is usually wireless. Finally, try changing your settings from WPA2 to WEP, as sometimes WPA2 is too secure and limits connectivity. Good luck. ^^

I keep getting kicked off during online play (8002AD23). I have a wired, ethernet connection

That error means your PS3 is having trouble connecting to the PS Network. That can be caused either by your internet speed (if you are downloading something for example, it may lower your speed and cause this error) or by a random glitch on the PSN. You should also try forwarding the ports from your router. The PS3 required ports are : TCP 80 TCP 443 TCP 5223 UDP 3478 UDP 3479 UDP 3658
Also keep in mind that it is recommended you set your PS3 to use a Static IP. I hope that helps

I keep getting signed out of the Playstation Network Keeps saying error 80710A06 HEELLLPPPP!!!!

80710A06 - An error occurred during the install operation (error when downloading game from PSN - network error occured

This error can occur when the PlayStation Network is down, or when your router is not forwarding ports.

It does appear that the network is down, as stated here. However, you can still check to see if port forwarding is the issue.

To check if you are port forwarding, visit this site and select the router you are using.
http://portforward.com/
These are the ports needed to be forwarded:

-This may not be required if your router has an option called UPNP-
  • TCP:
    • 80
    • 443
    • 5223
  • UDP:
    • 3478
    • 3479
    • 3658 (voice chat)

PS3

The way this was resolved for me (and I know someone else mentioned it in an other post here), was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. Voila... I am upgrading my PS3 software as I write this.... ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP..
