Question about Canon PIXMA iP4000R InkJet Printer
Recently started having a pink and a green streak (about 1/4 " wide across the photo at end of printing. tried cleaning and deep cleaning - no help. Print check pattern fairly good - the pink and the blue strips have dark and light shades on them, but no definite white spaces within the color.
I've had the same problem with my ip4000, but the solution was to get a new print head. They can be quite costly, so I recommend the following:
1. Contact Cannon support and see if you can get them to send you a replacement. They sent me one free of charge, and didn't need an RMA for the old one, so it was hassle free.
2. You can always try to aggressively clean the head yourself by removing it and following some of the "home brew" procedures others have tried. However, you can damage the head further this way and it's only a last resort. Warm distilled water and a syringe was used by one person. When I tried this, it did not work at all, and I called Canon for the replacement anyway.
