If you put your knee under the drum while your arms are inside the dryer, you can line up one. You could also duct tape one screw in and stand over the dryer to line it up. Then once lined up, manouver your foot or leg under the drum.

GE 5 Cycle Automatic Heavy Duty Extra Large loud noise

All ge dryers have a center bearing on the back side of the drum and drum glides on the frontside. The glides make a scrubbing sound when bad and the drum is hard to turn. The rear bearing does a squeak thang when the plastic bearing wears thin and begins to make metal to metal contact between drum mount and rear bulkhead mount. It is an easy fix but the drum gotta come out. here is my pictorial page that shows how with videos and repair pix:

No high heat in dryer

This type of dryer has 2 rows of elements. If one is out then you will not have high heat.

Basically to get into ge dryers your start by popping the top then removing the front. Then the drum comes out.

How to replace ge dryer heating element

you will need to remove the drum for this one.  once it is out, the element is mounted on the back of the unit.  not a hard repair, just lay out the parts as you take it apart to give you some order as you re-assemble it.

I have a problem with my dryer, it is leaking water from it, was wondering where it might be coming from, any suggestions? I just dried a load of clothes and notice some water leaking from under the dryer....

all the dryer does is move air,if the steam can't move to the outside from a blockage of some sort your gonna find water droplets building up on and around the dryer, you need to clean out the dryer and this should be done every year so you don't have a fire also more so if it's gas with an open flame in the dryer,if you have a long vent line run from the wall to the outside use a leaf blower to clean out the line, first run the dryer and check outside to see if the flapper is blowing fully open,if there is a cage on the hood, throw it away, all it does is collect lint,if you want to keep it go out and clean it every month,if it's low to the ground this is used so no animals can crawl into the line, now unplug the dryer, take off the front panel and vac out the inside, then clean the duct that the lint filter slides into,ge drums ride on a rear bearing and the heater is on the back wall behind the drum,if you look inside you'll see holes in the back wall of drum,if you have a shop vac put it on blow and blow out the holes in the back of drum, alot of lint collects in there, hope this helps, you definetly have a block somewhere and the is is being restricted

Clothes dryer is squealing when turned on. suspect drum bearing. looking for a diagram for dismantling can i take the top off without removing the back panel( GE 5 cycle dryer)

You dont need a bearing you need the DRYER DRUM SLIDE Part number AP2041815 which is under $6.50 a piece. Take the top of the dryer off and look on the front of the drum. Some GE dryers have 2 and some have 4.Go to Appliancepartspros.com it item 316 they also have a diaphram.

Dryers drum is not spining

I was having a similar problem but my dryer was about 5 years old. There are a couple of rubbery, sticky belts that wrap around the dryer drum. One of mine had come off the drum and was balled up, wedged between the drum and the dryer wall. It wanted to spin, but this "belt" was keeping it from doing so. I'm not sure why or how it happened, but I removed the portion that was gummed up and now it works fine.

you need to replace the inner plastic "shell" and the teflon pieces that the drum rides on. The dryer drum has eaten thru the teflon slides, and has probably started eating the shell away also.

About $40 in parts available on line will fix the problem.
