1998 dodge neon. Left rear brake/turn signal wont work. No power to socket. All other bulbs working.

A common problem is under the contact inside the bulb holder they will either have a piece of foam rubber or a spring that pushes the contact up against the end of the bulb. A lot of the time these will become weak and not allow enough contact with the bulb to light it. Now that being said you stated you have no power to the socket so I have to assume you used either a multimeter or a test light to check it. If there is no voltage at all then you will have a broken wire some where. A common place for the wire to break is right at the little button I mentioned that is inside the bulb holder. On the under side it is common for the wire to break loose from the contact from everyday vibration. You will have to remove the bulb holder and solder the contact or get a replacement holder and splice it in.

The last battery in my 3-cell Maglight (closest to the end, farthest from the bulb) has leaked acid out inside the tube /handle and caused the battery to get stuck, I can't get it out to clean it up and...

Unscrew the lens and remove the bulb, then get a small disposable container and fill it about an inch full with WD-40, or a similar de-seizing fluid. submerge the stuck end in the fluid for a few minutes and it should come off without issue. Make sure to clean the tube completely before replacing the bulb, lens, and batteries.

Couldn't find out how to take bulb part out so I could get corroded batteries out

The back of a Mag-lite screws off to replace the batteries. Look for textured lines like on a coin.

Mag-lite does not work i have tried new batteries and new bulb and cleaning the spring in the rear. The switch appears to be operating correctly, but has not been checked

If your flashlight is like mine...

The switch closes the circuit to the bulb, so there is a wire, or metal conductor running from the switch to the bulb holder. If your switch is mechanical, it will push a metal lever forward ... bend lever this so it contacts the bulb holder better. If your switch has a wire, the wire is soldered to the bulb holder, but the switch may be bad

There is a second wire or metal conductor running to the back of the flashlight. This conductor has to make good connection to the metal spring. Stretch out the metal spring, and see if it rotates a bit so it makes better contact with the conductor coming from bulb.

There is a third point. This is where the front of the battery touches. If batteries touch the bulb, then the problem is the metal spring in the back or the mechanical switch lever. If your batteries touch a copper spring, see if you can clean this spring and pull it out a bit.

My Maglite torch that takes two AA batteries will not switch on. I think I require a replacement were the bulb fits into its connection.

The top just screws off and the bulb just pulls out....there should be a replacement bulb in the bottom cap under the spring inside that little plastic holder...just do not touch the bulb with you fingers when installing it. use a tissue paper to hold the bulb...
Line up the two little wires with the holes and gently press the new bulb in...

I have a five D cell Maglite. Seems to always

There are diffferent mag lite bulbs made for different amounts of batteries. Be sure that you have the 5 cell light bulb. Also try to keep your fingers off the glass. if you get any oils on it, wipe it off before turning it on.
Also you can get mag lite specific bulbs...they cost more but they're worth it.

How do you change the bulb in a mini maglite?

Check in the base of the torch and you will see the spare bulb. you need to pull the spring out to get at it.
Next unscrew the top off the torch to expose the bulb.
The bulb is easily removed by gently pulling straight out. Replace the new bulb in the same way, lining the two pins up with the holes (doesn't matter which way round) and wipe the bulb clean of any finger grease etc.
Screw the top back on and replace the spring in the base before screwing the base back on..
Replacement bulbs, and all other parts for that matter, are easily sourced at any good outdoor store that stocks MAG.

Hope this helps..
