I need a DVD writer to backup my data on my main PC, so a 8x write speed is
fast enough.
Would any of you recommend this?
Thanks,

What programme do you suggest for R/W CD backups Jock?
I have been using InCD, and as you say, it is unreliable.

Should be OK, but beware of using it with Ahead's InCD. Unreliable.
Likely to lose your data.

I just bought one, very quiet and fast. Reads and writes both standards too
which is a bonus (+ and -)

I have had the drive for a few weeks now and it has worked without fault and
is very quiet in its use.
Recording 4x Verbatim discs at 8x.
For me it would be hard to justify the price difference for the Pioneer for
no advantage.
