We have about 15 or so networked HP Business Inkjet 2230/2280 printers that are available via iPrint..
They all work fine, but they all state a status of error in the status column.. This confuses alot of people.. We had tons of other networked printers laserjets and deskjets and they all work but the 2230/2280 series..
We have this problem and we remove snmp configuration. Everythyng work well... except snmp :-)

Will have to setup on our test server for the HPGate stuff..
We are running 6.0sp4.. We don't use iManage 2.x yet (using 1.2.2).. Not sure what that gives us..
Just a little more info, when I manage the printer I get the display as follows:
Display Panel: READY Printer State: Error Printing Other Problem:
The other weird item I notice (only on this model printer) is: Printer Model Printer Manufacturer From Printer ???HP BUSINESS INKJET 2280 (unknown)
See the funky characters next to HP, than it can't figure out manufacturer...
You don't happen to know how Novell finds out the printer model do you? I have spoken with HP about this and they aren't the most helpful bunch.

I think that is true for NW6.5, but I can manage mine OK in NW6/SP3. Probably it's really an issue of the version of iManager. Pre 2.0.2 should be OK, I think.
Could be the Novell SNMP Gateway doesn't quite correctly decode things correctly. HPGATE should have a better shot at it.
What version of NetWare, including Support Pack?

We could try the HPGATE, the big downfall there is I understand you can't use iManage to manage thr printers then..
The JetDirects are mostly 600n (a few 610n) with the latest firmware on them. We have a few HP 9300's hooked up to external jetdirects and they are fine.. Its weird because the 2230/2280's will report other issues, it just seems to be the "status" that is wrong..
For instance we have one right now that say Low Toner - Intervention Required.
Trying to get help from someone at HP as well.. Almost seems like however it communicates back (SNMP?) to the server it is passing the wrong info..

It might not be a bad try to go with HPGATE. I do have a couple of HP printers that do work a bit better with HPGATE. Generally, though, the Novell one suffices.
That printer is using an internal JetDirect? If it's an external one, can you swap it with a printer that doesn't have problems, just as a test?

Thanks for the suggestion, but they are already up to date..
Wondering if switching to the HP gateway instead of the Novell gateway would help. But in watching the forum here, that doesn't seem that good of an idea..

I bought a ink pack (combo pack) from the local walmart store. installed the 93 coloer and it worked fine. installed the 92 black cartridge and it failed. cartridge problem came up right side) tried the old cartridge and it worked fine. tried the new and same result as first time. made sure seal was removed and that it looked the same as the old 92. all looked fine. Returned the cartridge to walmart and they told me they do not stand by opoened ink packs. said to go to www.hp.com to deal with it. help!
