doesn't seem to be lid switch as it does start the rinse cycle. It won't do anything when I set it to the spin cycle. Does not drain the water.

Check the lid switch.
If you set it for spin, does it spin?
Does it drain the water?

If it will not do the spin cycle you have a bad lid switch.

The lid switch controls the spin cycle.

Washing machine does not complete wash cycle. Gets to rinse than stops. Does not rinse or release water. When I manually move the dial to spin, nothing happens?

You need to check the pump it sounds like you have something in it .Clean out the pump and the unit will finish the cycle if the pump is not burnt out.

Stuck on rinse cycle

Often what appears to be a significant problem, may be something simple. I would recommend checking your lid switch. If the washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain, this is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug.

If not activated by a lid strike, other models have the lid switch located under the washer casing next to one of the lid hinges. It is activated by a rod contacting an actuator. The mounting scews for this type are located under the operator console.

If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to access the washer interior and replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com, searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, or repairclinic.com.

If you need further assistance, please post back with a complete model number so that I may be able to assist you better. I hope this helps you.

Washer stopped after wash cycle

The lid switch is the culprit. Push down on the lid it should start. It needs to be adjusted . the tab on the lid is not activating the switch. Try triming the door bumpers.

Kenmore washer quit working

it may be waiting for a faulty heater to kick in. try it on a cold water wash, no heat and see if it continues the full wash. if it does not then it may have a faulty timer.

Asko w6221 front load washer stops after wash cycle

Do all of your cycles work when you turn them manually? If one cycle does not work when you turn the dial on it then it will be your timer (The dial assembly $100-up) If all your cycles work manually, then it could be your timer motor which is attached to your timer assembly. If you turn the dial pass the wash, on to the rinse, does the dial automaticly move (when finishng the rinse cycle)to the spin cycle? If so then your timer motor is ok. The only wires close to the bottom are the motor, but these should be high enough out of the way.
