Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

Whirlpool fridge not cooling gone warm air blowing

No cold air is coming out in either freezer or fridge double sided Mine sounds similar- it doesn't cool and the copressor is hot but doesn't want to start- buzzes for 5 seconds then nothing.  Kepps doing this over and over about every 3-4 minutes?  Does that sound like a faulty relay?

My problem sounds very similar... i can hear something engage, a soft buzzing sound then nothing, and it does this several times. the lights work, air blows but it's warm, and the ice maker engages. i called a repair guy and they are coming over tomorrow AM and mentioned somethign about the auto-defrost might be out.. but how does that stop the compresspr from kicking in?

Update, i took my fridge back panel off and cleaned the coils with a coil brush and vacum. i then plugged it back in, turned on the thermostat, and listened to the 'clicking humming' noise. it was coming from a module attached the the compressor, a part called the starter. i am picking up the part tomorrow if available at the part store near the house. online it shows for $32.18

SafetyDan, you probably have a bad starter. i replaced mine its working again. if after replacing the starter you still have the problem then it's a bad compressor but the starter can be found locally or online for about $40-$70 depending on where you live. i found it online here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=263269

Good luck!

I was writing a big note here before then hit the wrong button, it was just a bunch of jargon anyway. Yes it is the condenser fan motor causing your problems. Doesn't cool the refrigerant properly than nothing works. I would change the fan before it causes any damage to the compressor.

Freezer works, but has some ice forming and refrigerator not cooling.

The refrigerator half of a refrigerator/freezer does not produce any cold! The refrigerator is cooled by transferring air from the freezer to the fridge. The fridge temperature setting controls a flapper between the freezer and the fridge. There should be a fan which blows air from the freezer into the fridge (through the damper).
If the ice forming in the freezer is concealing the cooling coil and air can not move through the coils, then the overall result will be a warm freezer (even though there may be ice in one location) and a warmer yet fridge. This can be tested by unplugging the fridge and allowing a complete thaw. If the ice is the cause of the problem, then it should work for a short while until it freezes up improperly again
:o).

Hi We have a whirlpool side by side no ice maker in the past week the freezer is cold and frosty fridge is warm up to 15degrees at the top bottom of fridge is 5 degrees. Top vent from freezer is not in...

3 things
If you have ice on the freezer side.
1. defrost timer not working
2. blower fan failed, if it has one
3. defrost limit switch failed..
i dont think it is #2 but 1 or 3
last but not least your defrost heat coil has failed

Freezer is cold, refrigerator is warm. sounds

check the fan from the freezer side if its not running /possible frozen or jammed will cause the refridge side to be warm the fan blows the freezer air into the fridge side to cool their is also a damper or duct control which can build up if no blockage or debris test fan for power if power than test fan it self if not running than repair or replace as necessary

Fridge side works, but the freezer doesn't

Hi, there is a common fault with these side by side models, the electronics fail in many ways. The first sign of failure is either due to the compressor not working or the 'evaporator' (the cold bit) ices up and air can't pass through it to cool the freezer and fridge.
You can buy a kit to repair the boards for about £30 on ebay
Look for Whirlpool repair
An engineer would charge £200 +
Hope this helps

Freezer cold, refrigerator warm

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.

Side by side: freezer temperature fine, fridge too warm

sounds like your auto defrost isn't working. my maytag does same thing. the cooling core in the freezer is probably iced up. when it becomes solid ice no air(or very little) can pass by, leading to too little cold air reaching the fridge. you can try to cycle the temp levers(usually doesn't work) you can manually defrost the freezer. pull the cover off the back(inside freezer) and use a blow dryer. not sure how much parts are for whirlpool. hopefully this is just a one time thing. there are tests you can find to check some of the parts.like the heat element for the defroster, just search for the tests.

Whirlpool fridge not cooling gone warm air blowing

more than likely the compressor is not starting, it has a starting device on the left side of the compressor which has a relay/overload called a relay, remove the relay and shake it , if it rattles it has gone bad. the relay/overload combination has gone bad and can be replaced with pro41 relay. if the compressor has a run capacitor just eliminate the capacitor when replacing with new relay. connection of the two wires makes no difference.
