Reset HP 17b11+

According to the manual:
To reset the calculator, hold down [CLR] while pressing the third menu key from the left. Repeat if necessary. The calculator displays
MACHINE RESET to confirm that reset has occurred.
The above sequence does not clear all memory and settings.

If you want to completely erase the continuous memory and return to default settings, press and hold down [CLR], the leftmost
menu key, and the rightmost menu key.(Press three keys simultaneously).
When the three keys are released, the calculator displays MEMORY LOST.

Stored data usually remain intact.

To reset the calculator, hold down the C key and press GTO . If you are unable to reset the calculator, try installing fresh batteries. If the calculator cannot be reset, or if it still fails to operate properly, you should attempt to clear memory using the special procedure described in the next section. If the calculator still does not respond to keystrokes, use a thin, pointed object to press the RESET hole.
The calculator can reset itself if it is dropped or if power is interrupted.

CLEARING the MEMORY

If the calculator fails to respond to keystrokes, and you are unable to restore operation by resetting it or changing the batteries, try the following MEMORY CLEAR procedure. These keystrokes clear all of memory, reset the calculator, and restore all format and modes to their original, default settings (shown below):
  1. Press and hold down the C key.
  2. Press and hold down the R/S key
  3. Press i (You will be holding three keys simultaneously)

How can I reset the calculator every time before useing it?

There are numerous procedures to reset calculations, worksheets, etc. but the most general one is to press [2nd][Reset][ENTER].
You can also perform a hard reset by pressing the Reset button in back of the calculator.
Removing the batteries has the same effect as the hard reset.

Okay, so I've got a fx-7400G PLUS. My stupid friend put the contrast to light and turn it off. The calculator stop working. What can I do to make it work again? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Reset the calculator. On the back of the calculator there is a reset button (Above battery compartment and to the left. Use a thin pointed object to push it. The calculator will ask for confirmation to reset all memory back to default. Press [F1] to accept.
And next time avoid hanging out with stupid people, and don't lend them your calculator. Didn't you know that stupidity is contagious?

Hope that helps.
Thank you using FixYa and for rating this solution.
