there is something holding it up or make sure that the pressure is not too soft. there is a little screwdriver adjustment on motor there are actually 2 of them one is for upward force the other for downward force. turn up the downward force just alittle. dont turn up too much just in case if you or a child get stuck under the door while it is closing....hahaha. no serious try this and see if this helps

Check your safety eyes. There should be a light on on each eye. If not, align the eyes so that they are pointing directly at each other. If you adjust force settings like mentioned above, do not go above 6 or you can easily damage the door if there is a problem.

When closing door with remote or the electric mounted pad it goes down about 6" then stops and goes back up 2" and then I have to hand wind it back down. fitted 2 years ago no problems until now

Greetings,
There is something blocking the door from closing. Look around to make sure there is nothing near it or touching it.
Once I had a rolledup screen that started to interfere with the closing. Keep all things clear from it.

check the settings on the unit itself sometimes if you have it set up to come down too rapidly it will cause it stop and go back up because it thinks its hit something.

Garage door goes up fine but when you press to come down it goes down one foot, seems like it hits something and returns.

There is a sensor which checks for obstructions, are you sure there is nothing impeding drive path?Inspect the drive path carefully. If it reaches a part of the drive path which causes it to slip or stick slightly this will tell it not to continue. Also but less likely have you checked that the optical sensor is clean and aligned. Make sure there is nothing blocking the optics.

I have an old Kenmore garage door opener. The door will not go down. It acts like something is in the way of the electronic stoppers, but there is nothing in the way. Any ideas.???

Make sure the door sensor are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

Garage door has a dirty grease mark down middle of door as if chain or something is rubbing on it.as it opens. When I watch it opens it appears that nothing is even coming close to door as it opens and...

When the door is opening the chain on one side of the rail is pulled tight and the opposite side sags. It is just the opposite when the door is closing. It could be the sagging side is rubbing against the door but it seems you would have seen this. Also the chain shouldn't have grease on it. Just a light coat of lubricant from the factory. You might try tightening the chain just a tad.

Your opener could be 1 day old and something could go bad. Double check the door sensors. If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a sensor problem. Nothing else causes that symptom. Make sure the light on each sensor is on and not flickering. Tweak them a little.

If your springs were sprung it would not be that easy to open. The reason it crashes down is because they have the door balanced good for the door opener.Check on the door opener itself and see where the reset button is.Maybe something was obstructing to not let it open..Look for the reset and that should get you going on the door opening and closing.Just going to have to figure it out why it did that..

Automatic Garage door reverses and automatically opens after closing

I can't believe it! My opener works fine a 10 degrees and above but below 10 degrees it would go down a little ways stop and go back with the light flashing. I checked the electric eye and found it would go out of alignment when the temp drop. Who knew!
I made the adjustment and it now works fine.
