Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

SOURCE: nikon coolpix L18. Can't put pix on comp. format card

I suggest you to remove the card from the camera and use a memory card reader to transfer the pictures to the computer. Note that the memory card should be formatted in the camera. Once the pictures are transferred you can reinsert the memory card to the camera and then format it in the camera.

SOURCE: Transferring pictures

Make sure you have the drivers installed for your camera. If the computer can't detect it, then thats the reason. You should be able to find the drivers on Nikon's website. Good luck.

SOURCE: pictures will not transfer off the camera

Here's a silly suggestion for you... is the "lock" engaged on your memory card? It will be a small sliding lock portion on the SD card. If yes, unlock it and try again.

Hi i have a nikon coolpix L11 dg cam.. when i connect the camera to the comp.. i get a msg new hardware found... but later during the installation it says, drivers not found... and also i have downloaded...

If you are using Windows 7 then that itself the problem. There is a work around though. You can remove the card from the camera and plug it into the card reader slot on your laptop so that you can just copy the pics like you do from a USB drive. Atleast its a work around till the drivers are available for the camera. PS: IF your lapto does not have a card reader you can purchase one at your local computer store for about 10$

Hi im trying to put pics from my camera to my comp all i get on the camera is busy i used it last week ..i got a virus my virus cleaner finally killed the virus but now i cant upload from my camera to the...

The best thing to transfer pics from camera to computer is not to transfer directly. Take out the memory card and load the pic through card reader. This is even faster and safer for your camera getting the virus. perhaps your camera is now virus infection but I just hope it's not. try it, that's what am doing.

Need to download a driver

The Users Manual for the Sanyo VPC-T1060 suggests that drivers are not required to transfer pictures to your computer. Once the camera is connected you must select PC from the cameras menus system, at which time your camera will turn up in windows explorer as a removable storage device.

If you are not able to find your connecting cable. and i am assuming your need is to transfer the data to comp. Well what you can do is you can take out the memory card and fix it into the card reader (you will get a card reader vey cheap anywhere.). and connect it to your comp. Now your card will work as a flash drive and you can transfer data easily then... Hope this helps you out.. :)

Transfering images from mini cd to regular cd

Finalizing only allows your CD or DVD to be compatible with other units and to prevent any additional files from being added. If you initialized instead of finalizing you may have wiped out your files, but I doubt it.  Try this: Play your CDs on the original unit where they were recorded. If you see pictures, you should be able to transfer them. Try running a USB or firewire cable directly from your camera or DVD player into your computer and capturing that way. You did not mention what kind of a computer or photo capture device you are using.
