Question about Canon PIXMA MP210 Photo All-In-One Printer

Duplex Printing with a Mac: Canon mp210

I know this has been asked more than once on many a mac forum, but nothing so far has worked for me.

My operating system is Mac OS X and I have a Canon mp210 series printer with all the latest drivers installed from the Canon website, but the double-sided print option is still greyed out and unavailable. I read somewhere that there's supposed to be a Duplex Printing & Margins option from the drop-down list when the Print Dialog box is opened, but I don't have that option.

On another forum, I read something about selecting Printer & Fax Preferences from the Print Dialog box. When I press the Drivers tab after, none of the newly installed drivers are listed. Are they supposed to be visible? The only driver listed is the Canon mp210 series driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm going insane from wasting ridiculous amounts of paper and refuse to print anything until I find a solution.

Thanks

SOURCE: Canon MP210 with Mac OS X 10.4.11 problems with printing docs

Hi

I have OS-X 10.4.11 and had the same issue; any printing just spat out blank pages.

I installed the following driver which completely resolved the issue:

http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0029270.asp?model=

There's a similar one for 10.5 that I haven't tested, to be found here:

http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0028432.asp?model=

If you use 10.5 and this driver works for you, please let others know by posting here, too.

Good Luck

SOURCE: canon mx310 feeds paper w/out printing

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Can you do macs? how do i print duplex with this printer, duplex is suported by my mac

The Canon-supplied MP530 driver doesn't have duplex printing as a print option. Mac OS 10.5 has Gutenprint drivers built-in for a number of popular printers, including the Canon MP500 which is a near match for the MP530 and includes the two-sided option for printing.

With the MP530 plugged into your Mac (or, presumably, available over the network) go to the Add Printer wizard ( System Preferences > Print & Fax > + ). Pick MP530, name the printer something like "MP530 Gutenprint" and under "Print Using:" choose "Select a driver to use...", select "Canon PIXMA MP500 - Gutenprint v5.1.3" and then Add the printer.

The MP500 Gutenprint driver isn't a perfect substitute for the MP530 one, however, so you should do this in addition to installing the proper MP530 driver from the Canon website and adding the printer using that driver with a name like just "MP530" or "MP530 Canon". In a year or two of using the Gutenprint driver I've only once had a print job that wouldn't render correctly (some missing lines on the printout), and for that one time I had to switch to the Canon-supplied driver to get it to work. All the other times I find it very convenient to have two-sided printing available as an option.

The two sided printing isn't particularly fast, but it's a whole lot more convenient than manually printing the odd pages and then the even pages.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Will not print 2-sided. Use a mac

Go to this link. In the search window in the center of the screen, type "duplex printing" and click on the Search button. Then click on the item "How do I print on both sides of the paper". Next, click on "Set automatic duplex printing (Mac)" and follow the directions to set the printer for printing on both sides.

Canon Pixma 4200 does not print double-sided with Mac

First, I'd strongly suggest you update your drivers.. there are newer drivers that came out in Nov 07, Dec 07, Jan 08 and even Feb 08. Here's the link to Mac OS drivers for your specific printer...

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=257&modelid=11641#DownloadDetailAct

Please download and install all of the applicable drivers/software, because I have found that features such as color management come from the Easy Photo software, not the driver stuff.

The second link here is the directions on how to set up the duplex printing in Mac OS systems. It's a step-by-step and seems pretty comprehensive.

Good Luck!
Let us know how it works out for you!
