I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but here's an exploded view of the parts for your router that may help you to figure it out more easily. There's also a user manual here, in case that will help.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Porter cable 7310 has broken spindle lock. THis is a brand new router and the spindle lock pin is broken and the motor will not spin. what is the best way to fix this

you would have to remove the bottom section of the motor housing. this would require removing the collet nut and the screws holding the housing in place. I would suggest going to "dewaltservicenet.com" and downloading a breakdown before attempting. It is not really that hard if you are mechanically inclined. The pin is more than likely jammed into the armature shaft that locks and that is why the motor won't turn. Let me know if you need more assistance.

How do I hold the armature still on a Porter Cable Model 1002 Router to take the nut off to change the inner bearing

generally you would use a strap wrench to hold the armature, but if you don't have one use an old piece of rubber and wrap around armature and then gently hold in a vise to take off. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Plunge router is stuck in the router base. Porter Cabe 891 router is stuck in the plunge base. Released the buckle and won't come out. What to do? Thanks, Joe

If you are talking about the nut tap on it with a hammer, if you are talking about the tubes you can try cleaning them with air and then using some lubricating fluid to free up the piston/springs. Let me know if you need more help

Want to replace broken locking pin

It appears that the retainer is removed from the outside, Go to Dewaltservicenet.com and under manuals type in your model number I used 890 and you can download a breakdown for this tool. Did you remove the motor from the base so you can see it more clearly, the retainer might be an E clip that slides off with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Rowdy45176: the pin i am talking about is the pin that locks the shaft so you can change bits. i have mounted the router in a table and without the lock on the shaft i have to get under the table and...

OK looked at a breakdown with 400 mag, and it looks like the pin is held in place by a long lever that goes down the side of the motor, that lever has a cover over it with 2 screws to hold it in place. Look at the side and see if it if what I am describing and then the pin has a piece over it and a spring to push it away from the shaft. Let me know if this is not correct and I will call Porter Cable for you and get them involved

PIN100 leaves about a 1/8" of pin exposed every time.

I have seen many Porter Cable pin nailers with a bent or broken driver. Easy to check. With breakdown in hand (http://images.toolpartsdirect.com/schematics/portercable/pin100.big.pdf) remove head nut and other parts to gain access to piston/driver. (parts # 60084) Most drivers have the tip missing or driver is bent. Replace as needed. If driver looks good replace driver into cylinder and push all the way down. The driver should extend about 1/8" past nose. Check for obstruction around lower bumper. Parts are not expensice and are available at WWW.toolpartsdirect.com. Please email if you have any questions. Good luck.
