I hve an IMAC G4 running OSX 10.4.  All of a sudden, my printer will reduce the size of anything I print to something that would fit a 4x6 picture format in the upper left corner.  I've gone through every setting I can think of to correct this.  No luck.

I have the same problem but when I go into system preferences to  change the printer properties, I'm unable to see any of the printer settings.

Go into your printer properties located in the control features of your operating system. You can change the default properties within that and it will default to color, quality and size for each of your program applications without having to change it each time.

I can't fit a document to page when printing

In the program you are using to create your document, go to file, page setup first. Set this and then go to the print dialogue box and do your thing!

Getting a borderless print

Try this if that helps:

Using iPhoto to create borderless prints To use iPhoto to create borderless prints, please follow all of the steps below:
  1. While logged in as an Administrator, install the latest Canon printer drivers onto your computer (with Mac OS X v10.2 or later as the operating system) and select the appropriate printer as the default.

  2. Launch iPhoto.

  3. From iPhoto, select and open the image you wish to print. (Please refer to the Apple web site for instructions on how to use iPhoto.)

  4. When you are ready to make a print, select from the Menu Bar 'File: Page Setup'.

  5. The Page Setup dialog will appear.

  6. Select the following settings:

    1. Settings: Page Attribute
    2. Format for: <Select the Canon printer you wish to use>
    3. Paper Size: 4x6 (borderless)
    4. Orientation: <Select the matching orientation>
    5. Scale: <Select the appropriate scale>

  7. Select 'OK' and the Page Setup dialog will close.

  8. From iPhoto, from within the Constrain section of the browser window, select from the pull-down menu (i.e., the button directly above the Constrain label) either '4x6' or '4x6 Portrait'. Then, using your mouse cursor, mouse-over the image and when the Cross-Hairs are over the upper left-hand corner of the portion of the image you wish to print, click and drag from the left to the right in a downwardly diagonal motion, releasing the click at the end of the image selection.

  9. Click the 'Crop' button.

  10. From the Menu Bar, select 'File: Print', select your options, then select 'Print'.

  11. This selection, revealed in the iPhoto window will now print as a borderless, 4x6 print.

My Canon Pixma MP500 is printing only black.

Hey, Sound like something is wrong with the color cartridge. Replace the color one and try again. If that fails you might have to replace the printer as it doesn't sound like the problem is software related.

Only prints half the page

When this has happened to me I've cured it simply by switching off the printer, waiting a few seconds, then switching it on again!

Dark prints when printing from my Imac using Leopard

I was also having problems with my Epson scanner on my iMac. I read that the best way to solve Epson's problems is to (1) uninstall all Epson software from your HD, and (2) download the appropriate drivers from Epson and install them.

Note: The Epson R1800 has two drivers: the most recent is an update. So, you must first download and install the Printer Driver v6.12. When that's done, then download and install Printer Driver Update v1.02.

I did that and I still got dark prints. Then I got an inspiration. In the Print dialogue box, I changed my Printer Profile to the paper I was using, Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, instead of using sRGB and/or Adobe RGB. Specifically, I used SPR1800 PrmLstr PhotoRPM.icc. The next test print was virtually spot on to what was displayed on the screen. I am now a VERY happy camper.

Please pass this info onto anyone else who can use it.

Printing from pc to printer

You need to set the paper size in page setup everytime you change paper size you want to print to. Other than that you need to enlarge your print size within the program you are using.

Let me guess. The warranty ran out about 3 months ago, right? From what you describe, it's time for a new printer.
