Pavilion 6355 with pavilion m50 monitor model #D5258A

Problem I power up CPU I see the H/P logo screen then it changes to a black screen with blinking curser top left corner.

I can enter F1 Set-up screens

I cannot enter F8 fail safe mode

Any idea's ? Also if I press the select button the screen resolution is set to 720x400 70hz.

The CPU was purchased by my father new 75 years old he used it very little and left it unplugged several years and passed to my son for personal use.

It's basically a new unit love to resolve the problem.

SOURCE: Power Light Blinking & Black Screen

A blinking blue light indiactes that your power-inverter board is not putting out what it should. It needs an overhaul which may be a simple as changing out the capacitors on the boards.
It could go beyong that to transistors or even a bad bulb.
It will have to be opened up to do that.
A picture may show visual signs of damage. If you can take one and email it to me , I'll take a look.

Have you tried the connection with Vga cable? If not try with a vga cable and setup the connection via VGA ports instead of DVI. If usb or audio connections are setup, please unplug them while trying this.

Also, when it goes "blank", look at the monitor very carefully and verify whether you see the images of the screen/desktop (though dark), if you can still see the images of the screen, then it's related to the inverter board, you'll need to replace the mainboard or replace the capacitors. You can refer the capacitors here (Click here, Page # 5), they are C801, C838, C851, C858, C868.

Before you replace them, check for damaged or bulged or melted (joints/connectors) capacitors on the board. You may also smell the burnt scent of the capacitors, sometimes it's difficult to detect with our eyes, only with meter/tester will work.

Also make sure the OSD isn't locked, press and hold down the Menu button until you see a message about OSD locked/unlock.

All the best.

SOURCE: I bought a new HP

You change it at the PC, the video resolution from your new PC is too high for the monitor to display.

The system unit is started but the monitor is making black so, what is the problem , pleas tell me the solution

first check your monitor front power light blinking or not.
if it's blinking then then remove the signal cable to the cpu then check the company logo moving in the monitor.if it's moving means your monitor is OK.means no display in *********** board.
