Hello,

When you press the key between X^2 and log it gives you a template where you enter the base of the power (bigger rectangle) and the exponent (the smaller raised rectangle) . Using the 3 cubed exemple is not good because base and exponent are the same.

Exemple :15 cubed.
Press the key with an X with a small raised rectangle. The cursor blinks at the left side of the raised rectangle. Enter the exponent (3). Then use the left arrow to move the cursor to the base. Enter 15 and press [=]. The result is displayed as 3375 or in some other equivalent form (with a power of ten.)
Hope it helps.

With variables:
In what follows physical keys are represented inside square brackets [ ] while the SHIFTed or ALPHA keys are inside parentheses. Exemple [ ) ] is a left parenthesis and [ALPHA][ ) ] displays X; [X^2] calculates the square of a number, while [SHIFT][X^2] calculates the cube.

2[ * ][APLHA] [)] (X) [SHIFT][X^2] (X^3) -686

OOPs [ ) ] is a right parenthesis.

Press [MODE][3][2]. In first column enter known x-coordinates (1 and 5), in second known y-coordinates (2 and 6). The solution you are looking for is in form Y=A+B*X where X=3. Your calculator computes A and B after you enter data. To calculate Y (which is equal to A+B*3 press [SHIFT][1][7][1][+][SHIFT][1][7][2][*][3][=]. The result should be 4.

### Hi there. I'm using Casio FX-570ES scientific calculator. I would be glad if you could guide me as to how to obtain derivative of a polynomial expression e.g. y=12(x^2+6)^5

The syntax of the command is

where function is the expression you are differentiating
x is the value of variable x at which you are evaluating the derivative, and tol is the tolerance (the error) you are willing to tolerate in the result.

If you do not want to specify a tolerance just omit the last comma and tol.

To enter the command d/dx you use key sequence [SHIFT][Integral]
To enter the symbol x in the expression you press [ALPHA][ ) ]
To enter a comma you use [SHIFT] [ ) ]
To enter a power of 10 in the tolerance use [x10^X] key

Example : Calculate

The key sequence is as follows
[SHIFT] [Integral] 3 [ALPHA] [ ) ] [X^2] [-] 5 [ALPHA] [ ) ] +2 [SHIFT] [ ) ] 2 [SHIFT] [ ) ] 1 [x10^X] [(-)] 12 ) [=]

DO NOT confuse [SHIFT] [ ) ] which enters the comma and [ALPHA] [ ) ] which enters the variable X.

Use the key above the ENG key to enter a value in DMS form, ending each portion with the key. To convert it to decimal, press SD once (or twice if you get a fraction the first time).

Example: sine of 12 degrees 15 minutes:
sin 12 *** 15 *** =

### Inputing factors on a casio fx-115es calculator

Unless I am failing to understand your problem, just combine like terms to get:
9x^2+2x+4 and then enter those coefficients into the quadratic solver.
That will get you the two answers -- both of them will be complex.
If you wanted to turn those two answers into factors (complex) of the original equation simply
change the signs on each and put an x in front.
Of course, the quadratic formula would also work.
