The problem was that nobody ever save the configuration for the KVM. So it seems that when switching to one console to another, the last keyboard configuration was keeped.

Because that's an IBM AT3200 keyboard, it does'nt seems to have a numeric keyboard. No marking on the keys, no num lock button.

But you can trigger the numlock.

Since one of my server had the numlock On, when I took a look on that one, then change server it keeped that configuration and suddenly all 0 became a slash. Resetting the KVM return to normal for those servers without numlock On.

When I saved the KVM configuration, after a reset of the KVM and while on a server with NumLock Off then I only have the problem with one server. And no matter how many time I reset the KVM, it stay that way. I check every keys on the keyboard and realize there was a numeric keypad. Turn that off and save the KVM configuration again.

    Everyting is ok now.

According to the user manual, the device needs to be sent in. The user manual can be found at:

  • Note: If you are not familiar with the operation of OSD menu, please don’t change the password – i.e. keep default eight zero (00000000) value.
  • Otherwise, if you have set the password and unfortunately forget the password, you need send it back to your distributor for resetting the password.

How to set up Compaq Series 4110 8-port KVM Switch & select computer

The Compaq 4110 KVM switch was actually manufactured by Apex which is now part of Avocent. Your switch is Compaq's rebranding of the Apex/Outlook EL-80DT from Avocent.

The key to display the KVM switch menu should be PrintScreen. Here is a link to the user manual:
ftp://ftp.avocent.com/public/product-upgrades/Outlook/EL40-80DT/OL_DT_UG.pdf
Your answer seems to be on page 34.

HP Parts supposedly still stocks the EPROM for this model, so you can try to order it from the HP Parts Store. Check for part 340579-001.

KVM switch control

APEX switches are manufacturer by Avocent and rebranded by Dell, HP/Compaq, IBM, etc.

The keystrokes should be CTRL-CTRL (Hit control 2 times). Some Avocent switches also use ALT-ALT or SCROLL-SCROLL.
