Let's start troubleshooting. First your monitor has the power thats for sure. Tka your monitor and hook it up to another computer, just to see if the monitor is gonna work. If it doesn't it could be your monitor. If it does then it could be your video card. Don't forget to try a new cable as well, it might be it, too.

HELP!! :smileysad: i have WD ELEMENTS 500 GB. Its working properly when i first bought it until today. im on my desktop clicked a folder then It HANGED then i restarted it then im opening that folder...

Hi,
Have you tried to connect the WD drive to a different Laptop or PC? Normally, in my experience, barring any serious error with the drive, connecting to different laptop would allow you to view the drive again. What happen was the drive was reading the folder when you restarted the PC. The best action then was to leave the pc to finish reading the files.

I am having trouble with the monitor showing a black screen. It will turn off in the middle of anything I am doing, quite randomly. Using windows XP Home edition. PC does not turn off, but disk light...

I would suggest to first determine that your monitor is OK. If you are using a notebook try connecting an external monitor as well and see if the same random (monitor switching off problem) happens with this monitor. If you have a desktop try connecting a different monitor.

If the same condition happens with a different monitor try updating the drivers for your video card.

Vista Black Screen after Startup.

Try booting into SAFE MODE, usually by pressing F5 or F8 just after turning the power on. This should give you a display. Once you can see your desktop right chick on a blank area of the desktop, select PERSONALISE, then DISPLAY SETTINGS to reduce the screen resolution. Then reboot and try again in NORMAL Startup

Im having the exact same problem doesnt load past welcome screen!

Try to login in the Administrator account, press Ctrl+Alt+Del (2 or 3 times) in the welcome screen and you'll get a login square, in username name type Administrator and password leave it blank if it logins without a password go to control panel and create new accounts.

I boot my cpu but the monitor doesnt show anything

Hi again.
The beep codes you describe are memory issues or failure, take the system memory out, clean the contacts and the slots with a clean, soft, dry paintbrush. Re-seat the memory firmly and try boot the PC again.
please post back with the results

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Nothing is working! I need help

Hello,

You haven't received a response from Whisperwolf because our email notification system is down right now.

When you start your system and before your Dell screen shows, Press either the F2 or F10 screen. This should get you a System Bios setup screen. In this screen, see if there is an entry for your Hard drive and CDROM drive.

If you can get that far comment back and I'll check back here until our email system is working again. The fact that your computer is not responding to your CDROM is not a very good sign and your computer may have been starting to fail with the first of errors you received and is now at complete risk.

Regards,
Worldvet
