Hello, I just purchased your C655 and am fairly new to computers and would like to know what all of the acronyms mean at the top of the key board. Also I am partially deaf and can't find a volume control...

I suggest you go to Toshiba's web site. The information you require will all be there.
www.computers.toshiba-europe.com is a good start and there are may acronyms, a good one is POST. Power On Re Set
You will be amazed at what they think up!

My computer model toshiba satellite 110-178 has been lost its sound, what should i do?

1. check the volume control mixer in the Windows task bar to see if you haven't muted the sound.
2.check the mute button on your laptop panel to see if you haven't muted the sound there also.
3. check for driver update for the laptop sound card at the manufacturers site.

Sound can not come out

On Toshiba laptops there is an external volume control located around the edges of the laptop, they are usually located on the front or the side. Make sure the control is turned up.

Play a song on the laptop and then turn the volume wheel either way to see if that will increase the volume.

Loud Beep on media control panels volume buttons.

I had the same problem. They sure make it tough for you, don't they? Urgh... it was annoying. Anyway, this is what fixed it for me, a solution from another site:

In the control panel, under sounds. Go to the speaker properties, and then the levels tab and mute the computer beep level.

L have a toshiba satellite m55-s331. I have very low volume. Tried the obvious inc downloading new drivers, updating ect. Nothing works! I have realtekAC97 audio driver. Please help! Keep it simple as I am...

You might be able to adjust the volume further from the control panel.

In windows xp click "start" and then select "control panel" Next click sounds, speach, & audio devices next to a speaker icon. Then click the "sounds and audio devices"

you should be able to adjust the volume there as well as a volume control on the front or side of your laptop.

good luck

Send me the URN for my model

Some things I'd check first:

1) Device Manager: confirm you have a hardware/driver issue: you'd see a yellow circle with exclamation mark next to the item with a problem

2) Sound and Audio Devices - that the system Master Volume isn't muted AND check that the volume is set; while you are at it check that the "Wave" input isn't muted/volume is turned up

3) Check the external volume control - set it at half way

4) try using a set of headphones (rule out bad laptop speakers?)

In terms of drivers, do you have a Satellite A60 (vs EA60-155)? I couldn't see that model on the download support pages:

Toshiba Canada
Toshiba USA
Toshiba Europe

All require you to specify the model, then specific model. I used the EU site for the Satellite A60 laptop. Among the list of drivers shown, I see one for the sound card.
