We have a Danby counter top microwave. The problem is this:
If you open the microwave door, and then close it, the microwave starts running - i.e. the light is on, the fan is going and the turntable is turning. If you give the microwave a whack on top (or just shut the door with a more sudden "snap") it will stop, and then you can set the time and hit "start". It's been doing this for a long time, and it seems to be getting harder to make it stop! We don't know if it's actually microwaving when it does this, or if it's just the light, turntable and fan that are running. Wierd, eh?
-   I have a Danby DMW162W-ORT over the oven microwave and it keeps running. The fan and light is on and I sometimes have to open and close the door several times or slam it more abruptly to get it to stop and it is getting worse the longer this goes on. I cannot press any buttons to stop the microwave or use the microwave until the light and fan have stopped first.-   sparky1603
Hi firstly to see if it is producing energy, buy some 5mm light emitting diodes from an electronics store. cut off the leads close to the plastic body.
place in microwave and put on cook for max 10 secs, if the led's light up you have microwave energy, shut off the oven as soon as they glow otherwise you end up with a mess.
If you have energy then your problem is most probably the door interlock micro switches which after time do not operate properly. let me know the results and we can go further.

I bought my Danby microwave about a year ago from Walmart and just recently I've been getting electrical arcing inside the door seal area of the microwave. I noticed burn marks down to the steel and you can smell electrical burning. I've tried appliance paint to cover the bear medal burn marks but it does not help. What can I do since I believe it has become a fire hazard!
